At Blue Robotics, we enable the field of marine robotics with affordable components and systems. What does this really mean? We design cool tech for use underwater that enables tons of people and organizations to pursue their audacious dreams of exploring and learning about our oceans and waterways. Our community is out there doin’ things – they’re mapping Hawaii’s sickest surf breaks, exploring shipwrecks that have long been forgotten, and building bots that are solving complex world problems.
We’re looking for a human with a passion and deep expertise in making riveting videos and visual storytelling. We’re a close-knit team that thrives in collaborative environments, but it’s 2024, and we’re remote, so we’re pretty freakin’ good at working solo, too. You will be a self-motivated visionary who will engage with our team and humans in our ecosystem to create compelling works of art that inspire anyone who should care about the ocean (which is everyone).
responsibilities:
- evolve story ideas out of brainstorms with other teammates
- ideate, create, and digitally edit in a bold and innovative way
- capture content
- bring the camera everywhere to capture stories worth sharing
- work autonomously and develop high-quality concepts with minimal instruction
- manage timelines and prioritization of workload and know when to ask for direction
- collaborate with team to develop and execute launch plans
- edit video content for social media platforms (we hate social media, help us change that)
- help develop platform-specific strategies
required qualifications:
- proficiency in camera operation (iPhone, DSLR & mirrorless)
- 1-2 year experience shooting in various environments (including at sea)
- fluency in Adobe programs (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Express, After Effects)
- 1-2 years experience working in a small video production studio
- 1-2 years experience troubleshooting issues during production
- willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) and work on-site at various locations as required
- proficiency in sound design and audio editing, basic color correction and grading
- passion for learning the latest video production techniques
desired not required:
- engaging on-camera video skills (do you want to be in front of the camera??)
- interest in technical hobbies or the ocean
- local to LA
- animation skills
- experience with drones (or the willingness to learn!!!)
- some knowledge of underwater shooting

salary range:
$69,000 - $85,000; depending on experience
