Compensation includes a base salary of $64,200.00 - $96,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The AJC is seeking a socially-minded Video Producer focused on Black culture to create digital video content that explores and explains how Atlanta's unique Black culture shapes life in this city and influences the region, nation, and the world.
This video producer will work with the AJC video team to produce, shoot and edit content across social platforms, while working directly with the UATL Black Culture team to implement daily programming on third party platforms and ajc.com.
This is a highly skilled, creative and technical role. The ideal candidate understands audience behavior and has a proven track record of optimizing content for social and digital platforms. This producer brings a sophisticated understanding of Black culture, tradition, and the arts, broadly defined-and how they intersect with history, politics, celebrity culture, race, power, money, and identity-both locally and nationally.
This role will be hyper focused on vertical content-shooting and editing with Instagram, TikTok and YT Shorts in mind. The ideal candidate can shoot thoughtfully on both an iPhone and cine cameras, is a skilled writer and editor, and has a mastery of both producing premium video, as well as raw, unique moments that elevate a social presence.
This video producer must find creative ways to contribute to our audience goals, develop our social voice, and respond quickly to opportunities of the day while working in a fast-paced environment.
This candidate must have an obsession with quality, pay close attention to detail, and be comfortable handling multiple projects in a deadline-driven news environment.
This position is based in Atlanta, GA and may require some travel and weekend work. This role must be flexible and must be willing to manage the demands of a 24/7 newsroom and news cycle.
Responsibilities:
•Produce, shoot and edit vertical videos optimized for social platforms (eg: Instagram, TikTok and YT Shorts)
•Write creative and accurate digital video scripts and captions
•Concept clever thumbnails and graphics. Be empowered to evolve, elevate and try new video formats
•Stay on top of trends and in-app tools to integrate into storytelling
•Assess and pitch social content based off news and feature opportunities leading our newsroom priorities
•Help create and deliver the voice of AJC Black Culture on social media and our own and operated platforms.
•Shoot in the field with digital cine cameras; maintain AJC visual identity
•Book, produce, and develop on-camera talent
•Edit bespoke vertical videos and cut down content from horizontal formats
•Collaborate in the post-production process with editors, graphic designers, producers, managers and other stakeholders
•Help produce premium and raw daily and weekly social content that ladders up into overall video strategy and across social channels
•Manage post-production workflows and organize footage and metadata as needed
•Maintain internal databases to ensure timely and consistent delivery of all assets
•Consider audience behavior and shared learnings to evolve video style and visual identity
•Assist and contribute to feature and other quick-turn edits as needed, meeting aggressive deadlines
•Produce stories for sponsored partnerships and revenue-driving initiatives, as directed •Remain communicative and amenable to change
Qualifications:
•Expertise in Adobe Premiere is a must; an understanding of the whole Adobe suite is a plus.
•A portfolio of work showing editorial judgment, technical skills and creativity
•Experience creating video for digital and/or social platforms or news organizations
•Strong shooting skills with a digital-first aesthetic; knowledge of the Sony FX series, a plus.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaboration with team members
•Strong writing skills
•A passion and excitement for news, entertainment and digital content
•An ability to remain flexible in changing environments
•Proven ability to work closely with standards and legal groups to ensure all projects meet AJC editorial guidelines and practices.
•Bachelor's degree preferred. With a BA/BS, must have 4+ years of production, field production, and/or shooting experience; with a Master's degree, must have at least 2 years of experience; with Ph.D. must have at least 1 year of experience; with no degree, must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in digital video production.
