The San Francisco office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Video Editor/Director to join our team.

Working with us, you will:

  • Conceptualize and direct strategic and aesthetically creative, brand-appropriate content that is aligned with SmithGroup’s overall creative approach, strategy, and needs alongside the Creative Services Manager and Communications Director.
  • Direct and manage video content produced in collaboration with internal or external partners and/or vendors.
  • Develop visual concepts through storyboards and sketches for a range of video assets with varying levels of production quality from high design to quicker informal videos.
  • Edit video content, including color correction as needed, that meets cross-firm communication goals with the support of Communications and Creative Services team members.
  • Assist in the development and management of video and photography standards, asset guidelines, libraries, and templates by maintaining Open Asset and SharePoint pages and communicating changes to various teams across the firm.
  • Support the evolution of the SmithGroup brand while maintaining the core corporate identity system.
  • Embody a commitment to innovation and experimentation to drive and evolve SmithGroup’s video approach.

An ideal candidate has:

  • 8+ years’ experience in video editing/directing roles.
  • 5+ years’ experience editing with non-linear editing tools. Experience with Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro preferred.
  • 2+ years of project management experience related to video production projects preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in film, broadcasting, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • A comprehensive understanding of digital workflows and file-based delivery.
  • Familiarity with shooting and operating digital cinema cameras, lights, and audio equipment.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, visual storyboarding, video direction, and editing for outputs such as social media, the firm website, project interviews, thought leadership campaigns, and other internal initiatives.
  • Motion design & compositing experience in After Effects is a plus.

SmithGroup's competitive compensation and benefit package is designed to meet the needs of a diverse staff. The anticipated salary range for this position is $82,000 to $89,000 annually, at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for this position. Additionally, an employee in this position is eligible for a performance-based bonus on an annual basis. Our comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending account options, and voluntary insurances. We provide an opportunity to invest in your future through our 401(k) program with employer matching and a continuing education reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, 8 paid federal holidays, and parental leave benefits.
