Job Title: Summer Day Camp Camp Settoga Visual Arts Specialist
Department: Camp Settoga
Reports to: Camp Director
FLSA Status: exempt
Date: Summer 2025- June 30th through August 15th, 2025 8am-5:00pm
Position Purpose:
Arts and Crafts at camp is one of the most loved camp activities! Camp Settoga is looking for an Arts specialist to further the camp's mission by developing and delivering a variety of Art activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' age and abilities. Our ideal candidate would be creative, compassionate, and love all things art! Bump our pinch pots up to a new level with our ceramics kiln. Use nature and the outdoors to inspire creative projects. Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and deliver a specialty program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers
- Write lesson plans that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
- Evaluate the abilities of campers and include staff in activity participation.
- Design and deliver activities that make use of camps resources including outdoor campgrounds effectively
- Collaborate with Program Director
- Evaluate the success of program area
- Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures
- Support and direct counselors during their scheduled activity periods with you
- Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures
- Assist campers with the process
- Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment
- Ensure the security equipment and supplies, including inventory organization and proper storage and planning for replacement of supplies in a timely manner.
- Conduct a daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Clean program, keeping it free of hazards and debris.
Other Job Duties:
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the camp staff team to learn and build relationships with campers and staff outside of the kitchen.
Qualifications: (Minimum qualifications and experience)
- Documented experience in the specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Training and experience in teaching children.
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
- Experience in program planning and ordering supplies ahead of time to ensure program plan/ curriculum is followed
- The ability to set up and clean up a work space.
Physical Aspects of th
e Position:
- Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.

- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Some physical requirements of a culinary arts specialist could be endurance including standing, some bending, and stretching. Requirement for eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to make projects and assist campers. Requires range of hearing and eyesight necessary to maintain a safe culinary environment and carefully observe camper and staff participation.
