Summary

The Full Stack Web Developer Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the digital presence of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and solutions that support APTA’s digital channels serving members, consumers and other key constituencies. The ideal candidate will possess a robust skill set in both front-end and back-end development, ensuring seamless integration and user experience across APTA's web sites. Works with key internal contacts to develop and execute modifications, enhancements, and additions to APTA’s digital platforms, applications, and products. This position is also responsible for defining technical requirements for web related projects, offering supporting technical and digital tools to enhance objectives and ensure projects are completed in a timely fashion. Defines and supports opportunities for continuous quality improvement in department activities. Effective champion of the Association vision, mission, and brand.

This position directs implementation of strategies on Association priorities in the following areas:

  • Web Application Development
  • Content Management System (CMS) Design, Maintenance and Development
  • Data tracking and implementation
  • Server-Side Logic Implementation
  • Continuous Testing and Improvement

Essential Functions

  • Design, implement, and maintain dynamic and responsive web applications using Optimizely and modern technologies and frameworks. Ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security of all web solutions.
  • Utilize tools for A/B testing and personalization to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Implement and optimize back-end services and APIs, ensuring seamless integration with third-party and front-end components
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
  • Integrate web analytics tools and frameworks that support data-driven decision-making. Collaborate on the development of tracking mechanisms to measure user engagement and website performance.
  • Implement best practices in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the user journey across APTA's digital channels.
  • Leverage various data sources, including CRM and analytics platforms, to enhance website functionality and member experience.
  • Monitor web performance and regular reports that highlight website performance, identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies in web development. Actively seek opportunities to innovate and enhance APTA’s digital solutions, including implementing new features and functionalities.
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of web applications to ensure functionality, performance, and compatibility across different devices and browsers. Ensure all web solutions comply with APTA’s quality standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for web applications, including system architecture, APIs, and user guides to support internal teams and future development efforts.
  • Design and maintain effective change control processes that align with industry standards, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in full-stack web development, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
  • Experience with Optimizely (formerly Episerver) and other CMS platforms and ecosystem
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Angular).
  • Strong back-end experience (Node.js, Express, Python, Ruby on Rails, or similar).
  • Strong experience .Net Framework and .Net Core
  • Experience in developing web-based .NET solutions using ASP.NET/Core MVC and C#
  • Familiarity with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB).
  • Understanding of web performance optimization and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with API architecture
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with marketing automation platform backend web development and maintenance integration such as HubSpot, Microsoft Power Pages, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Project management skills
