CACI is looking for a talented and motivated Technical Writer to join our Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) specifications and standards team. The Technical Writer will be eager to support the program, to build relationships with Government Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), support the mission and work in a fast paced and rewarding environment where communication and workflow business processes are important in addition to, using his or her aptitude for critical analysis of technical content and reporting.
More About the Role
The NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Technical Writer is responsible for producing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting technical documentation to primarily include reports and reporting presentations, as well as design specifications, Navy Standards, manuals, drawings, processes, policies, procedures, test plans, proposals, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), presentation materials, technical reports, white papers, other documents, and transition documents to support CACI's NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Contracts. The Technical Writer edits and formats specifications and standards for consumption through the NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Review Board working groups.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Technical Writer is responsible for producing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting technical documentation to primarily include reports and reporting presentations, as well as design specifications, Navy Standards, manuals, drawings, processes, policies, procedures, test plans, proposals, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), presentation materials, technical reports, white papers, other documents, and transition documents to support CACI's NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Contracts. The Technical Writer edits and formats specifications and standards for consumption through the NAVSEA Specifications and Standards Review Board working groups.
Specific responsibilities:
- Gathers information, interviews subject matter experts, and conducts other research in order to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
- Manages assignments and works independently and actively with SMEs/ Ship Design Managers (SDMs) Program Managers, and Technical Authority (TA) Stakeholders to produce and/or modify documents within a fast-paced environment and established workflow time frames and in accordance with specified deadlines.
- Develops content for technical publications and writes or edits hardcopy and online documents. Ensures content is readable, accurate, and compliant with stated requirements.
- Develops weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting metrics for executive and senior leaders of varying technical acumen and the Government customer. Provides appropriate context and scope depending on the audience.
- Works directly in coordination and workflow with Navy staff and systems to ensure the Engineering, Service Delivery, Operations, and Program Management departments to define and produce required documentation.
- Interviews and builds relationships with technical SMEs and converts technical content to internal standards without changing the meaning.
- Works closely with members of the technical writing team to ensure uniformity in workflow and writing style.
- Plans, develops, organizes, writes, and edits operational procedures and manuals.
- Creates and manages document and report schedules in alignment with project and deliverable deadlines.
- Manages updates and revisions to reports, presentations, and technical documents.
- Supports quality control activities required to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of each publication.
- Ensures documentation complies with all applicable specifications, standards, and other project constraints.
- Transcribes meeting minutes and action items in meetings with Government customer.

- U.S. Citizenship Required
- There is no clearance requirement to begin employment, however, as a requirement of continued employment in this position, you must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of related experience
- Minimum 0-10 years of Technical Writing experience (Note: Compensation will be based on Experience)
- Proficiency with MS Office Product Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio
- Experience with Adobe PDF documents and file conversions.
- Critical thinking and research skills
- Strong command of the English Language
- Attention to detail
