Technical Writer

Position Summary:



Life Cycle Engineering is seeking a talented Technical Writer with a focus of process improvement of with an engineering background to support our Engineering and Technical Services Group. The qualified candidate will have experience writing and editing formal technical documents with the ability and desire to expand their skill-set to meet emerging customer needs and requirements.



Clearance Requirements:




  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

  • Current Active Clearance is Preferred



Essential Functions and Responsibilities:




  • Perform a full range of technical writing tasks in support of the programs and processes including process development and create policy documents, standard operating procedures, business processes, handbooks and whitepapers

  • Draft, edit, and proofread Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and document processes and procedures of the programs, and maintain the latest versions of documents within the documentation database.

  • Manage, develop, and provide input to documents that support program critical success factors (CSFs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and other program planning and operations support activities documentation.

  • Write, edit, and/or create awareness materials, including reports, blogs, briefings and presentations, grafts, diagrams, guides, processes, policies, and other project deliverables to meet program objectives.

  • Create, update, modify, and use separate versioned websites residing on a network at an off-site Government run network/data/cloud center to document and verify Test Plans, User Guides, and Configuration Guides prior to software modules entering into the functional testing, integration testing, versioning, and deployment phases.


Required Skills & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree required, degree in engineering highly preferred

  • Experience writing technical documentation, procedures and guidelines

  • Proven ability to work directly with engineers and subject matter experts to produce system design documentation, briefings, manuals, and other content



Desired Skills & Experience:




  • Previous experience working in DoD or Government environments is a plus

  • Proficiency in general project management terms, standards and processes



Physical Demands and Expectations:




  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting

  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance

  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
