At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling people to solve the world’s toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business.

More about the team

The Data Engineering and Developer Documentation team is a crew of experienced technical writers with diverse backgrounds, including software engineering, solutions architecture, and technical communications. We share a common goal: Simplify data engineering and pipeline development on Databricks.

As an experienced user of cloud data services yourself, you know the complexity of the landscape and the difficult decisions that go into choosing and integrating technologies. Excellent documentation guides customers through understanding tasks, options, and features customers use to build amazing solutions on the world’s only Data Intelligence Platform.

That’s what we do here. If that’s what you want to do too – and if you have the technical experience and professional writing skills to deliver excellent technical content in a very engaged, highly collaborative environment – then apply to join us!

The work you’ll do:

  • Develop technical content and code examples (Python, SQL, Scala, and R) that span the Databricks product, focusing on Databricks’ ETL features and data engineering use cases
  • Influence and contribute to our information architecture using current content design principles
  • Create, define, and drive technical content plans with product stakeholders
  • Use content performance data and analytics to develop insights that drive planning, prioritization, and improvements
  • Collaborate closely with other technical writers across the Databricks Documentation org to tell the all-up data engineering and ETL stories on Databricks

What we look for:

  • 3+ years experience working with cloud data services in a professional technical role
  • Ability to work in person in either our Bay Area or Seattle area offices 3x per week
  • Technical writer, product manager, engineering, developer relations, solutions architect, or field/support engineering background
  • Demonstrated strong technical writing skills (we’ll ask for samples)
  • Technical project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering large customer content projects
  • Working knowledge of current DevOps tools and practices
  • Experience with Git and working in “Docs-as-Code” authoring environments
