The Free Press is looking for a social media producer with experience creating social assets and managing accounts.

This person will be an independent self-starter who can write with flair and meticulousness while creating a flow of premium video and graphical assets that align with our mission and brand.

You will be responsible for promoting engagement and following on all social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

Responsibilities

  • The Social Media Producer will help to refine the company’s editorial voice and own every aspect of social media, from strategy and conception to planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Turn our daily journalism into stellar assets including text, images, audio, and video to be disseminated across socials.
  • Edit video. This means creating pacy, very quick-turn social videos in Premiere Pro that align with our editorial mission and value.
  • Create beautiful and impactful graphics for all platforms.
  • Be a talented, persuasive, and detail-oriented writer.
  • Interact with The Free Press’s audience and potential subscribers through its social channels.
  • Stay informed about social media trends, tools, and best practices. Implement innovative approaches to keep The Free Press at the forefront of social media engagement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure social media strategies align with overall company goals. Work closely with editorial, marketing, and design teams to coordinate campaigns and promotions. They will report to the Head of Audio and Video.

Qualifications

  • A deep passion for news
  • At least three years’ experience in social media for a news or related media organization.
  • An expert grasp on digital communication that aligns with brand voice. Should be able to set the strategy against cultivating community, loyalty, and growth, all while maintaining journalistic integrity.
  • Deeply imaginative and creative, and should instinctively think outside traditional news media practices.
  • Demonstrable experience editing excellent short-form video content using Premiere Pro to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills and a good sense of humor!
  • Experience using social media analytics tools to track performance and make data-driven decisions.

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 a year. Final offers for this job will be made within the parameters of this range, taking into account experience. In addition to a competitive salary, The FP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and long-term incentive & bonus programs.
