Our wireless SOC organization is responsible for all aspects of wireless silicon development, taking care of challenges from complex usages to enable emerging wireless applications and products.
Description
In this role, core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design radio models for the wireless communication system, RF/circuit impairments.
- Design methods/algorithms to alleviate those impairments by calibration, pre-equalization, canceller, and/or pre-distortion techniques.
- Evaluate radio performance in different scenarios by quantitative analysis and link simulation.
- Work with radio designers to develop state-of-the-art radio architecture.
- Collaborate with digital designers to realize PHY/radio algorithms with power and area efficient digital implementations.
- Work with firmware designers to realize PHY/radio algorithms with high efficiency software implementation, and possibly with hardware acceleration.
- Bring up, test, characterize, and optimize real silicon in lab.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Understanding of RF and analog components/modules in wireless communication systems, the possible impairments from those components, and the corresponding calibration and impairment reduction methods/algorithms is essential.
- Proven track record of RF calibration algorithm for RF impairments.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or C/C++ for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
- Hands-on experience in lab testing & characterization, such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, signal analyzer, power meter, etc.

- MSEE/PhD with relevant experience.
- Understanding of communication theory, information theory, & signal processing related algorithms design.
- Analytical capability to develop best-in-class solutions in terms of performance, power, and area for physical layer design.
- Knowledge in existing wireless communication protocols: Cellular technologies (5G-NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM), WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be and ad/ay) or Bluetooth/BLE.
- Circuit design experience or knowledge.

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
