Job Summary:
This is a full-time remote position. The West Virginia Grant Resource Centers (WV Grant Centers) assist local government and other eligible applicants with grant identification, writing, and submission - to develop a stronger grant capacity ecosystem. The focus is on the pre-award process to help communities, not-for-profit organizations, and other eligible applicants identify funding opportunities, put together competitive proposals, and submit complete application packages. The WV Grant Centers are looking for a Technical/Grant Writer with proven ability to work on several projects at once on tight deadlines; facilitate meetings; understand technical writing, deadlines, and grant funding criteria; use creative problem-solving; and design and develop projects. Strong written and oral communication and research skills and a professional, team-oriented mentality are a must. Some travel is required. This is a grant-funded position.

Duties and Responsibilities:Provide grant-writing technical assistance to eligible applicants, such as outlining funding opportunities as overviews or checklists, drafting project narratives, and developing budgets
  • Identify and interpret relevant funding opportunities for client projects
  • Develop materials to aid in the proposal development process, including templates for project narratives and letters of support/commitment; summaries of notices of funding opportunities/broad agency announcements/request for proposals/funding opportunity announcements; letters of intent; and other written correspondence
  • Support clients with project development by developing the scope of work and project goals, objectives, and outcomes while ensuring the project aligns with the funding opportunity
  • Manage the preparation of grant proposal packages and support eligible entities through the proposal submission process
  • Facilitate meetings, seminars, and workshops on the grant writing process regularly and liaise with federal agencies and private foundations
  • Guide and assist eligible applicants in filling grant application forms for funding by federal agencies and foundations and uploading documents into submission sites (e.g., grants.gov)
  • Maintain meeting records, project files, and other documentation needed for project management and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or PI.

Salary Range
Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equity

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
Experience

Two years of grant writing experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Education
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, English, Journalism or similar field is preferred.
Experience
  • Preferred skills for this position also include previous grant writing, budgeting, and reporting experience, excellent written and verbal expression. In addition, experience with the grant process, proposal development and submission, and project management is a plus. Experience with private, state and/or federal funders is a plus. Candidates with a connection to West Virginia are preferred.
