Job Description
The Development Director and Grant Writer will focus on stewardship and donor relationships through excellent data management, organization, and communication. They will search out and apply for grants suitable for the organization and all its departments. They will assist with the education and communication of our cause-driven mission, the Annual Support Campaign and sponsorship opportunities that support our Association. This position will enhance the YMCA's ability to serve our community through increased fundraising. This individual will work in a flexible, fast-moving environment with donors, volunteers, and other staff members to make giving back to the community through the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region a positive and fulfilling experience. This position will support all fundraising efforts, including annual, planned, government, and foundation giving, under the direction of the Vice President of Events and Mission Advancement. Work with the development team on special events and other projects.

Qualifications
Minimum age of 21 years old
4 years + work experience in executive or non-profit administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM data entry systems
Knowledge of the local philanthropic communities preferred
Strong research skills, familiarity working with donor databases/CRMs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and established timelines
Ability to work independently and as a member of the development team
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
All YMCA staff positions require certification in CPR/AED-Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. Preferred candidates will have current certifications however, training is available.
Essential Functions
By utilizing established organizational practices and policies, ensure giving to the Y is a positive experience. Plan, initiate, prepare, and distribute correspondence with staff, volunteers, and donors; maintain follow-up, and coordinate internal Ensure all donor communication is conducted in a timely manner.
Database administration for annual, capital, and planned giving and grants, including entry of gifts, acknowledgment, reporting, invoicing and analysis of trends.
Implement established stewardship processes, donor recognition systems, and contact tracking to ensure all YMCA donors feel appreciated, needed, and known.
Strategic and thorough record administration and file management to ensure operational efficiency and aid in annual reporting and audit preparation.
Support annual giving efforts by assisting with campaign planning, set-up, material development, and progress monitoring.
Conduct research to identify grant opportunities aligned with the Y’s programs and priorities.
Maintain an effective tracking system for all grant funding; ensure adherence to all established funder timelines for application submission and reporting on received grants.
Collect impact data, including personal stories and testimonials, to share with current funders and prospects.
Provide support as directed for Development Department events, which include annual fundraising dinner, golf tournament, 5k race series, donor/volunteer recognition, and various fundraising events.
