Job Description

Directly responsible for strategically leading and managing the Media and Advertising function of ALSAC aimed at growing engagement and revenue through new donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation using performance-based marketing practices at scale across paid media. Strategically partners with leadership peers to leverage the collective power of paid, owned, and earned media. Inspires and leads a team of performance marketing professionals focused on audience/goal-based strategy and execution leveraging data-driven, technology enabled optimization to maximize performance. Cultivates strategic relationships with leading and emerging media and marketing technology partners to enable sustained growth. Champions audience-centric, data-driven performance mindsets for reaching, engaging, converting and retaining donors through mass marketing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Develops, leads and executes a cohesive and integrated strategy for ALSAC's Advertising & Media efforts with a focus to drive brand positioning and supporter growth, leveraging trends that inform the future and implementing proactive innovation to ensure sustainable growth.

2. Oversees the development and delivery of unified audience experiences through the donor's journey that includes seamlessly connected touchpoints across all forms of paid advertising, search, social media, call center, and website. Partners closely with Mass Marketing Audience team and other marketing channel leaders to align on over-arching organization audience strategy for core and key growth audiences.

3. Approves channel plans and media optimizations, managing the team's delivery across integrated planning, activation, optimization and reporting. Drives the team to leverage data, automation, and rigorous testing coupled with masterful creative storytelling, customized journeys and easy-to-use features to drive performance.

4. Oversees execution of advertising mix to guide strategic allocation adjustments and optimize to drive both near-term performance and longer-term goals. Leverages Media Mix Modeling, Multi-touch attribution, and other tools to maximize media investment.

5. Act as strategic navigator for Mass Marketing teams by leading the thinking to inspire innovative solutions, creativity and a proactive approach. Leads, inspires, recruits, teaches, and retains top talent while maintaining an inclusive and diverse team culture.

6. Responsible for establishing advertising and media annual revenue goals and expense budgets, as well as delivering against the Development audience objectives (e.g. donor model targets). Collaborates with other Development teams and FP&A to develop and manage the annual and expense forecasts aligned with organizational goals.

7. Close collaboration with partners including Brand and Creative leadership to ensure brand and performance marketing strategies are aligned and optimized across paid, earned, and owned channels, with integration on seasonally focused initiatives; Other Development leaders who rely on paid performance media to support their goals and objectives for planning and execution; Technology and Product teams leading enterprise efforts and rely on media teams for business knowledge and expertise.

8. Communicates with executive leadership to share how leading digital trends are applied to business goals, provide performance updates, and transparently discuss ongoing opportunities and risks related to business operations.

9. Provides strategic leadership over the in-house programmatic media buying practice and agency/vendor mix, including specific technology capabilities that support programmatic media buying, performance analytics, segmentation/personalization, and online experiences through the conversion funnel.

10. Drive innovative and out of the box thinking with respect to new ideas/programs/initiatives, with strong focus on emerging technology. Champions data best practices and enablement in partnership with the ITS and enterprise data management leadership.

11. Leads and collaborates with Business Intelligence/Analytics teams to identify consumer learning needs and apply consumer insights to drive optimal media creation and execution across all channels. Identify and implement best practices for measuring and reporting digital KPIs.

Job Requirements
  • Proven leader with a track record of delivering top-line growth in managing multi-million-dollar revenue and expense budgets with keen fiduciary integrity, strong business acumen, and a people-first ethic.
  • Proven experience managing paid advertising plans including in-house execution, programmatic buying, and media agency management. Deep knowledge of AdTech, social platforms, digital display, digital video, CTV, DRTV, and other emerging advertising channels.
  • Solid understanding of research and measurement systems, including leveraging Media Mix Modeling and Multi-touch attribution for strategic media planning and optimization.
  • Strong track record of developing and managing high-performing diverse teams in a fast-paced environment, including staff development and succession planning experience.
  • Experienced and tactful communicator with strong executive presence, including ability to communicate complex information in easy-to-understand terms and in a concise manner. Skilled in socializing and building consensus around strategies with peers and presenting strategies to a wide range of audiences.
  • 10 Years of practical business, marketing and analysis experience in a data-driven environment focused on driving performance with 5+ years in an elevated management role.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience in a quantitative or analytical field such as business, finance or mathematics.


This position will be located at our National Executive Office in Memphis, TN.
