PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Graphic Designer plays a key role in enhancing San Jacinto College's visual identity, collaborating on the design strategy of a wide range of projects that represent the college to thousands of individuals annually. This position will create compelling graphics for high-visibility projects across platforms, including digital, print, and environmental media, supporting the Chancellor, executive leadership, marketing communications, and all college departments. The Graphic Designer will manage projects from concept through completion with minimal supervision.

The Graphic Designer will manage projects from concept through completion with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
- Creative Strategy & Execution: Conceptualize, design, and execute graphics across a wide range of formats, including print media, ad campaigns, animated graphics, environmental graphics, annual reports, event collateral, and presentations.
- Client Consultation: Collaborate with College clients to understand project needs, provide professional advice on design strategies, and recommend creative approaches.
- Project & Production Management: Oversee technical preparations for offset printing, collaborating with printers on proofs to ensure high-quality outcomes. Manage project timelines, track milestones, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Brand Consistency: Uphold and evolve the San Jacinto College brand standards, ensuring visual consistency and effective brand messaging across all materials.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team and vendors, such as the advertising agency and photographers, fostering a collaborative environment to produce designs that align with the College objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate the College values
- A compelling portfolio that demonstrates expertise in digital and print design, showcasing strengths in branding typography, layout, and color theory
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) using a Mac computer; animation skills in Adobe After Effects are a plus
- Knowledge of pre-press procedures and expertise preparing files for print
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to articulate design ideas and feedback effectively
- Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proven ability to lead design projects from initial concept through to final delivery, ensuring high-quality results that meet brand objectives
- Keen attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining consistency and alignment with brand strategy across all design outputs
- Team-oriented, with a proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving and innovation
Required Education or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field or eight years of graphic design experience in a fast-paced agency or in-house role.
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree is a plus
Required Experience:
- Three years of experience in graphic design with a portfolio showcasing strong digital and print design work and proficiency in branding, typography, layout, and color theory
- Experience in designing for branding, advertising, collateral development, events, websites, presentations, social media, and environmental design
- Strong experience preparing and packaging files for print
Preferred Experience:
- Five years of experience in graphic design, especially within higher education or other mission-driven organizations
- Experience in motion graphics
