Job Summary:
The Medical Research Library at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Assistant Librarian / Digital Scholarly Librarian. Reporting to the Interim Director of Library Services, the successful candidate will:
- Create, maintain and manage resources on the Libraries Open Access, Open Educational Resources and Academic Publishing, including print materials and websites.
- Investigates the Intersection of AI in research to inform Faculty how technology can shape research Interpretation and output.
- Advise faculty, students, and staff on strategies to better manage, describe. preserve, and make available their scholarly work.
- Develop and implement initiatives to raise awareness of Open Access within the University.
- Coordinates with the Head of Acquisitions and Collections to advance Open Access.
- Provide workshops on topics related to digital scholarly initiatives.
- Demonstrate experience with reference support In the Academic Library.
- Develop working relationships with faculty and graduate students within the University.
- Promote, and support students and faculty on the use of Open Access.
- Promote the libraries Open Access repository.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution.
- 3+ years of experience in an academic library environment.
- Good interpersonal skills and strong commitment to team work involving multiple and diverse projects.
- Knowledge of Al in research, Open Access, and Academic Publishing.
- Experience with information literacy and digital scholarship practices.
