Library Assistant
Part-Time position
SUMMARY: Performs paraprofessional library work; participates in the activities of a specialized library function such as circulation; provides general information and assistance at the public service desks. Actively upholds the library's stated mission, vision, and values.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists with library programs and displays as requested.
Assists patrons with mechanical operations of library equipment, including online resources and computer devices.
Answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
Accesses and retrieves information for library patrons and staff as requested.
Performs a variety of clerical work including maintaining records, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies, and recording information.
Supports the relationship between the Teton County Library staff and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and Library staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County Library information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED
1-3 years of customer service or general office experience
Required Licenses and Certifications:
None.
Required Knowledge of:
Standard library policies, procedures, and methods.
Microsoft Office products which include Word and Excel applications.
Administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records.
Library database systems to include how they are utilized for patron records, cataloging, circulation, reporting, and research.
Required Skills in:
Keeping current on established library policies and procedures and applying them fairly.
Exercising good judgment and demonstrating good problem-solving skills.
Accuracy and thoroughness with filing, materials placement and following procedural steps.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment.
Schedule may include evenings and weekends.
