Suncoast Behavioral Health Center opened its doors in 2014 and provides the highest quality of behavioral healthcare for patients in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center offers a unique treatment programs across inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient settings for children and adolescents.

In a highly specialized field of psychiatry, our goal is to promote cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to help our patients succeed.

The Hospital is looking for a MusicTherapist (BC): Wednesday - Saturday: 10:30am - 8:30pm to join our team.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Providing creative and recreational activities that meet the physical, social, emotional, therapeutic, cognitive, and recreational needs of our patients.
  • Utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be-it cognitive, social, emotional or physical.
  • Educates the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement.
  • Attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial treatment plan and progress summary updates.
  • Designs interventions which are relevant to the specific populations served.
  • Provides a safe and trusting therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Demonstrates skill in helping patients process interventions, allowing them to process emotions related to activities, and personal meanings associated with experiences and any parallels to their lives. Motivates patients to learn and better understand themselves and the issues they face.
  • Assessing patients within two (2) days of admission and completing evaluations of progress.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music Therapy required.
  • Board Certified Music Therapist required.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years' experience in Music Therapy field working with a mental health population.
  • Working knowledge of recreational therapy programming. Effective oral and written communication skill.
  • Extensive sitting, standing, walking, reading, lifting over (50 lbs.) pounds and participation in active physical recreational program.
