The College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Music Therapy to lead the development of music therapy.
The College seeks a music therapist and educator who is passionate and experienced with program development, community engagement, and interdisciplinary study. The ideal candidate has strong music skills, familiarity with accreditation and licensure, and a willingness to work with a variety of institutional stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to direct the development of a bachelor's degree in music therapy, recruit new students, as well as teach appropriate undergraduate and graduate offerings in related interdisciplinary programs (education, psychology, nursing, etc.).
The appointed individual will be responsible for teaching a variety music therapy courses as well as at least one general music course aligned with the candidate's areas of expertise and experience. Alongside leading program development and teaching, this individual will advise students, contribute to curriculum development, serve on departmental and college committees, as well as perform other tasks as assigned to support the objectives of the Department.

Minimum qualifications:
- Terminal degree (PhD) in music therapy or a closely related therapy field; ABD considered.
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC).
- Experience with undergraduate teaching.
- Qualified to teach at least one course in music fundamentals, class piano, or ear training.
- Evidence of capacity to collaborate with colleagues, staff, and/or faculty from other disciplines collegially.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in program development and accreditation.
- Minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy or its equivalent.
- Additional training in advanced models of music therapy (e.g. Creative Music Therapy, Guided Imagery and Music, Vocal Psychotherapy, Analytical Music Therapy).
- Experience with music therapy in pre-K - 12 settings or with school-aged clients.
