Job Duties
The Dept of Environmental Quality seeks a qualified candidate to review and process hazardous waste management facility permit applications, permit modification requests, closure plans, closure reports, and permit related workplans and reports and conduct hazardous waste inspections efficiently and within established timeframes. The position ensures high quality documents are developed and in accordance with technical requirements, best engineering practices, established guidelines and policies, and applicable laws and regulations. The position works with DEQ staff and facilities to resolve contested regulatory and technical issues efficiently, openly, fairly, and consistently.
Minimum Qualifications
KSA's and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
Knowledge of hazardous waste management practices, treatment, pollution control, and remediation technologies is required Knowledge of environmental engineering and sciences and the following technical areas: engineering fundamentals, mathematics, basic sciences (including chemistry, organic chemistry), engineered unit operations, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, geology, engineering design, and ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications. Knowledge of Federal and State environmental laws/regulations is essential Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills Effective time management and organization skills Proficient computer skills Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Additional Considerations
Combination of education or training with major coursework in chemical, civil, environmental, sanitary engineering or environmental sciences.
