Senior AV Designer
This role is part of AV group and is a key function of the design and project team. The Senior AV Designer is responsible to create, modifying and finalizing designs for audio visual systems within a range of businesses and high end multi development residential developments. This role will work with the AV team to develop highly detailed and accurate electronic drawings which will be used to prepare quotes, estimates, tender documents, field resource planning, execution of as builds and final client sign offs. This role includes client & team consultation, product & solution research, assistance with estimates and quotes for projects. Design of projects requires a high level of communication, ongoing skill development and attention to detail.

Senior AV Designer
This role is part of AV group and is a key function of the design and project team. The Senior AV Designer is responsible to create, modifying and finalizing designs for audio visual systems within a range of businesses and high end multi development residential developments. This role will work with the AV team to develop highly detailed and accurate electronic drawings which will be used to prepare quotes, estimates, tender documents, field resource planning, execution of as builds and final client sign offs. This role includes client & team consultation, product & solution research, assistance with estimates and quotes for projects. Design of projects requires a high level of communication, ongoing skill development and attention to detail.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Work closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, clients and vendors to correctly implement design work.
- Use your understanding of construction, electrical and engineering principles to determine the best possible project outcomes with a team.
- Assist in all administrative aspects of preparing quotes and designs estimates.
- Prepare detailed designs for the implementation or upgrade of complex systems.
- Design systems specifications to deploy, integrate, and test systems.
- Deliver designs on time, with the pre-defined project budget, maintaining a high level of quality.
- Produce and provide appropriate documentation for Statements of Work (SOW), design submittals, project proposals, closing project design updates etc.
- Provides research and input to project proposals and opportunities.
- Enforce and utilize internal processes for standardization.
- Be responsible for and maintain well organized client files, technical journals, and other Project related reports and communications which may include weekly updates and conferences and use of customer relationship management tools.
- Liaison with the Project team and contractors to ensure they are efficient and accurate in the deployment of designs.
- Coordinate with the sales, Project, and operational divisions of TLD to ensure timely delivery of technical support and services to TLD clients.
- Track activities accurately and in a timely manner via the tools and procedures provided by TLD.
- Be available as required to attend and participate in seminars, trade shows, and other non-traditional educational opportunities identified or developed by TLD from time to time.
- Be available for out-of-town travel in order to meet or provide support and services to clients
- Work consistently to improve TLD's relationship with clients - including Account Manager and Systems Engineer joint and in-person meetings with clients.
- Maintaining company ticketing and project update tools with respect to his/her role in a timely manner.
- Completes regular on-site quality checks of designs being implemented.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong Audio Visual design capabilities.
- Network and HTML knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of ethernet networking systems
- Able to design a wide range of AV solutions
- Has attention to detail when designing, integrating, deploying and testing systems.
- Has the ability to simplify and break down complex problems into practical solutions.
- Strong in document management; scope of work, proposals and design/programming files
- Ability to effectively prioritize work - ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while focusing on high-priority tasks.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Ability to support development of proposals with an emphasis on utilization of resources, access to manufacturer products and overall costs of a project with an eye to maximizing profitability
- Ability to communicate both on a technical level and a business level.
- Enjoy teamwork and collaboration.
- Education & Knowledge
- Completion of a bachelor level degree program in Engineering, Science or Applied Science (Computing) or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. This could include certification in relevant products used by CustomWorks - Crestron as a primary.
- Demonstrates understanding of project management methodology.
- Understands areas of AV infrastructure and application deployment. These include but are not limited to:
- Design skills with products CustomWorks sells and supports.
- Knowledge and experience implementing current AV solutions CustomWorks sells.
- Knowledge and experience integrating Pro AV systems into client's network.
- Crestron programming certifications.
- Security concepts experience.
- Creating drawings using current design programs such as Visio or AutoCAD.
- 3+ years of experience working on the AV channel in a similar capacity. Experience in design, deployment, and pre-sales are desirable.
- Must have demonstrated technical leadership and organizational abilities.
