Daily News is hiring: Newspaper Reporter in Wahpeton

Wick Communications is seeking a multi-beat, energetic reporter who aggressively pursues breaking and spot news, acts as a vigilant watchdog for readers' interests and tells a good story in beautiful Wahpeton, North Dakota.

In this position you will cover Daily News and News Monitor, which together serve Richland County, ND, and Wilkin County, MN. Both publications have a print presence, market-leading websites and successful email newsletters.

Our news coverage regularly includes impactful reporting on legislative issues, public safety — and local features that showcase our thriving area. The Daily News and News Monitor brought home 40 awards across news, photography and advertising in last year’s North Dakota Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.

We are looking for someone who thrives under a tight deadline and is eager to report in multiple formats, including newsprint, web, magazine and social media.

```Duties```
- Research, write, and report news stories on a variety of topics
- Conduct interviews with sources and gather information for news stories
- Fact-check information and ensure accuracy of reporting
- Edit and proofread news articles for grammar, spelling, and style
- Collaborate with photographers and videographers to enhance news stories with visuals
- Utilize video production skills to create engaging news segments
- Stay up-to-date with current events and trends in order to provide timely and relevant news coverage

```Experience```
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with AP style guidelines
- Knowledge of photography and video editing software

Wahpeton, ND, is nestled at the base of the Red River of the North on the North Dakota-Minnesota border. We’re in the middle of one of the world’s most fertile growing areas – the Red River Valley.
