Job Summary:As the Public Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing PR strategies that align with client goals and elevate their brands within the local and national media landscape. You will act as a key liaison between the agency, the community, and the media, driving positive press and engagement while ensuring a consistent, strategic brand voice across all communications channels.
Your local insights will be invaluable in guiding and shaping media outreach and public-facing initiatives. This role requires a confident, creative, and highly organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:1. Public Relations Strategy Development:
- Design and implement comprehensive PR strategies to meet client objectives, including media outreach, press releases, and event planning.
- Provide strategic counsel to clients on managing their public image and navigating crisis communication as necessary.
- Develop and maintain long-term, strong relationships with local and national media contacts, influencers, and key community stakeholders.
2. Media Relations and Outreach:
- Proactively pitch story ideas and press releases to local and regional media outlets (newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, online platforms).
- Secure media placements and interview opportunities that generate positive publicity for clients.
- Monitor media coverage and track public sentiment to adjust PR tactics as needed.
3. Content Creation & Messaging:
- Write and edit press releases, media advisories, speeches, and other PR materials.
- Develop and maintain client-specific media kits and brand messaging guides.
- Oversee the creation of engaging content for social media and other digital platforms to complement PR campaigns.
4. Event Planning & Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute press conferences, media events, community outreach programs, and promotional activities.
- Work with clients to organize local events and sponsorships to increase brand visibility and community involvement.
- Manage logistics for PR events, ensuring smooth execution and effective media coverage.
5. Client Management & Consultation:
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and strategic guidance.
- Provide counsel on how to leverage media opportunities for brand building and growth.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure that PR efforts align with broader marketing strategies.
6. Reporting & Analytics:
- Track and report on the success of PR campaigns and media coverage.
- Analyze press coverage and public sentiment to gauge the impact of PR efforts on brand perception and make adjustments where necessary.
7. Local Community Engagement:
- Leverage your knowledge of the local St. George and broader Utah market to identify unique PR opportunities that resonate with the community.
- Build relationships with local businesses, influencers, and organizations to amplify client presence and reputation in the area.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public relations or communications, preferably in a managerial or leadership role. Strong track record of successful media placements and strategic PR campaigns.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to craft compelling narratives and messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of media landscape, especially within the local market in St. George and southern Utah.
