The Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center in the State of South Carolina, serving 5.2M residents. As the only NCI-designated cancer center in South Carolina, HCC is part of an elite network of 72 cancer centers across the country recognized for our dedication to delivering cutting-edge treatments to patients and conducting innovative research to serve the unique needs of our state. Summary
The Hollings Cancer Center Communications and Marketing department is charged with promoting and publicizing all aspects of the organization, including major research, clinical breakthroughs, and leadership in various aspects of cancer care and science. Our key audiences include patients, physicians and healthcare institutions, the media, community stakeholders, elected officials, donors, and the national cancer science community.
As a member of the communications and marketing team at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, the Graphic Designer will lead and support projects to deliver high-quality finished graphics across a variety of print and digital platforms. The Graphic Designer is an initiative-taker with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while assuming accountability for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of assignments.
The role will also assist in managing a robust website, including updating content regularly, designing visual elements, and understanding Search Engine Optimization, Google Analytics and reporting.
In addition, this role will require working closely with other designers, writers and content creators to ensure a cohesive visual narrative for social, digital and email content, PowerPoint slide presentations, video graphics, publications, brochures, ads, signage and more. The person in this role will assist in other design-related tasks and projects as required.

35% Graphic Design: Using Adobe Creative Suite and other platforms, creates graphics, develops design concepts and produces layouts for digital and print projects, including social media posts, e-newsletters, digital ads, brochures, publications, direct mail, signage, infographics and more to promote HCC. Reviews all materials for consistency and adherence to brand standards.
30% Website Design and Management: Responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly web pages within SiteCore Content Management System using best practices for web design and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Works with content owners and other key stakeholders to ensure that web information is up-to-date and accurate, establishing a regular cadence of content review and improvement. Creates reports with Google Analytics and Conductor SEO platform and makes suggestions for continuous improvement of site performance and searchability. Coordinates on various web projects across the organization (University and Health System) to ensure representation of Hollings Cancer Center.
25% PowerPoint Presentation Development: Supports Hollings Cancer Center leadership, researchers and staff by creating PowerPoint presentations for conferences and meetings that are visually appealing, understandable and accurate. Creates graphs, charts and icons to depict concepts and processes.
10% Project Management/Administration: Manages and supports various communications and marketing projects as needed to support team. Provides regular status reports on all projects in meetings and through project management system. Attends major work events, such as annual LOWVELO fundraiser.
