About the job
Twilio is seeking a highly qualified CMO to develop and implement the company’s marketing strategy and vision, as well as lead all aspects of global marketing operations. As Twilio’s CMO, you will lead our global marketing and communications efforts. You will empower and retain a 300 person team responsible for the entire marketing mix including demand generation, product marketing, brand, corporate marketing, developer relations, events and more. As a key member of our leadership team, you will partner with peers from across the organization to ensure our marketing is engaging, creative, clean, and impactful.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive global marketing strategy that builds awareness and demand to ensure we exceed business and revenue growth objectives.
- Expand, lead and inspire a large global marketing organization that takes ownership for strengthening Twilio’s reputation as we evolve from a leadership position in the CPaaS market to the world’s leading Customer Engagement Platform.
- Drive strategic and operational planning with regards to branding, positioning, messaging, and broader go-to market initiatives.
- Create and scale programs that empower our community of XM developers to build with Twilio.
- Partner closely with the product, engineering and sales organizations to define and implement a comprehensive product marketing strategy.
- Ensure we mature as a data-driven marketing team that closely analyzes data to make informed investment decisions, as well as continues to innovate and iterate.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to continuously develop and improve a highly efficient sales execution process that fully optimizes demand generation.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with sales, product and people to ensure we deliver consistent messaging and articulate clear value propositions both internally and externally, as well as across all channels (print, digital, events).
- Ensure marketing develops and maintains a clear understanding of market and competitor developments and impacts product development to meet/exceed customers growing needs.
- Provide strong leadership, guidance and mentorship to the marketing organization’s management team, while encouraging a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
- Work closely with the CEO, CRO, the wider executive team and marketing leadership, set clear goals, carefully manage expectations, and ensure growth targets are achieved.

Required:
- Track record of leading and growing a high-performing global marketing organization at a similar hyper-growth B2B SaaS or Cloud Services company.
- Proven ability to define, improve and execute a comprehensive, growth-oriented marketing strategy, as well as own the full marketing mix including product marketing, demand gen, brand, communications, lifecycle, events, and marketing operations.
- First-hand experience of true scale and scope as a marketing leader. This is highly likely to include prior experience as a CMO who has helped to scale a $ multi-billion ARR public technology company.
- Ability to build, empower, develop and retain a world-class international marketing organization that is admired for its culture and respected for delivering exceptional results.
- Experience of owning marketing at a company with a strong self-serve and enterprise sales motion. More specifically, experience of marketing to developers would be beneficial.
- Highly analytical, data-driven, and digital-minded marketing leader experienced at using the latest tools and technologies.
- Strategic and transformational leader with the ability to quickly identify, assess and act upon customer needs, as well as market developments and competitor activity to ensure Twilio further solidifies its market leading position.
- Demonstrable experience translating marketing strategy into an integrated series of effective marketing programs on a global basis that drive rapid, significant, and consistent growth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as an inspirational public speaker.
- Able to operate and lead at an executive level in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment and contribute to the broader strategy and direction of the company.
- Adept at solving problems, comfortable making decisions, and taking decisive action.
Desired:
- Experience of working in a company providing customer engagement or related solutions would be advantageous.
- A strong background in product marketing is highly desirable.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in marketing would be preferable; MBA would be a plus.
- Considerable international experience would be strongly preferred.
Location
This role will preferably be based in our San Francisco, CA office or near one of our other primary office locations in the USA.
