Overview
The Cloud for Sovereignty team is a globally distributed team aiming to bring the power of the Public Cloud to the unique challenges of public sector workloads that must adhere to government compliance & security requirements. Combining the flexibility and scale of public clouds such as Azure with needs for data residency, guardrails, policies, and security, our multi-disciplinary team members contribute directly to the client's mission to empower every organization on the planet to achieve more.
We are looking for a Senior UX designer to join us on the journey of delivering the building blocks for digitally transforming sovereign workloads across the world.
The Role
You’ve worked on multiple enterprise solutions already and are interested in learning more about Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Fabric, Copilots, and Power Platform.
You’re experienced with component-based design practices and contributing to multi-product design systems, building end-to-end visual flows and detailed functional and accessibility specs.
You enjoy working with multi-disciplinary teams (all the way from product managers and engineers to content designers and researchers) and have strong written and verbal communication skills that can bring your team together to create simple and effective experiences.
You’re a tireless advocate for the people in all that they do, excited about creating and iterating on product designs, discovering what works best and applying your knowledge to create incredible software products that will change the world for the better.
You thrive in the face of ambiguity, seeing it not as a barrier, but as an opportunity for innovation and learning, where your adaptability ignites creativity to empower you to confidently navigate the unknown.
What You Will Do
- Deliver thorough, actionable, accessible, and intuitive designs for a complex and regulated space. Your design work is clean, focused, and inspiring to others.
- Produce design visualizations to help everyone understand what the best experience should be: storyboards, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and vision videos.
- Create, assess, and validate design solutions based on user research input, user goals, business requirements, and technical feasibility.
- Work closely with content designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to align, iterate, and deliver informed designs on time and at quality.
- Work with user researchers to coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and incorporate insights into design efforts.
- Support Engineering with design implementation, participate in product testing to maintain design quality, and adapt designs as needed during development.
- Scope and estimate efforts accurately and prioritize tasks and goals independently.
- Storytell the why, what, and how to a diverse set of audiences to create clarity, generate energy, and influence buy-in from key stakeholders.
- Identify new opportunities and generate innovative ideas to improve our products, our processes, and culture.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of experience overall and 3+ years of designing end-to-end enterprise scale cloud software or services.
- Proven track record of creatively solving hard problems, driving complex design issues across multidisciplinary groups such as engineering, product management, and research; and shipping relevant experiences within deadlines.
- Experience in balancing user goals, business requirements, and technical constraints to deliver delightful and meaningful product experiences.
- Proficiency in modern component-based design tools such as Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to create highly polished UX documentation, functional specs, accessibility specs, prototypes, mockups, user flows, and other communication artifacts.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, complexity, and failures with curiosity, optimism, and confident humility, helping drive clarity and action among the team.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with fellow designers and partners in Research, Product Management, and Engineering.
- Create and nurture an open and honest workspace, where diverse perspectives are welcomed, heard, and actioned on.
- Seek to deepen our understanding of the industry and customers, and use empathy to be daily advocates for people in all that they do.
- Encourage and strengthen the innate creativity in all of us to foster an innovative work environment where problem-solving and risk-taking are celebrated.
- Experience designing cloud services on one of the following public cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience designing solutions that use Generative AI or Large Language Models.
- Experience crafting a product vision to enroll and get buy-in from key stakeholders and leaders.
What We Want to See
A strong online design portfolio is essential - it's your platform to showcase your achievements, design approach, and creativity. It's not just about showcasing your UX and interaction design skills; it's about telling the story behind you and your work. We're excited to see your design evolution.
Tell us about your design process and how you use research, concepts, user testing, and collaboration to craft exceptional user experiences. Share with us when you experienced a setback and how you emerged more insightful and resilient. Dazzle us with your innovation and how you moved beyond a standard design to develop a unique solution.
