Overview:
The Sleep Center Data Analyst collectively analyzes and scores multiple night shift sleep studies on a daily basis, in addition to performing duties and functions of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. This position requires comprehensive presentation of processed PSG data to interpreting physicians, including review and clarification of overnight CPAP/Bilevel titrations. The SC data analyst is responsible for insuring polysomnographic data being processed is of high quality, including communicating and working effectively with technicians, the Sleep Lab Coordinator, the Department Director, and the Medical Director. Additional responsibilities include performing educational in-services to Sleep Clinic patients, preparing patient charts, performing day shift CPAP mask fittings, and performing day shift Sleep Studies + MSLTs (multiple sleep latency tests). Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, plus completion of college-level biological science course work or degree preferred.
- Licensure: American Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Registry.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years full time experience working as a Registered PSG Technologist in a nationally accredited Sleep Disorders Center in required.
- Significant experience in scoring/analyzing Sleep Studies per AASM standards is required during this interval as well, including scoring and/or reviewing a minimum of 2-4 Sleep Studies for each typical work shift completed.
- Experience in collecting, processing and completing projects and data used for Quality Management, and/or Quality Improvement projects, and/or AASM accreditation projects, and/or Joint Commission projects over minimally a (1) year duration is also required.
- Certifications:
- Current RPSGT + current CPR certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
- or complete a CPR course to acquire CPR certification from the AHA within probation within probation period.
- Maintain AHA active CPR certification during employment.
- Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Must exhibit technical skills and knowledge representative of training and experience required by qualifying for, and successfully completing the Polysomnographic Technologist registry, plus advanced technical skills and capabilities representative of commendable performance achieved working a minimum of (1) year as a full time PSG Registered Technologist.
- Must demonstrate ability to accurately analyze and process large volumes of polysomnographic data collected nightly by multiple PSG techs in an efficient and reliable manner.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively with PSG techs, test interpreting physicians, the Sleep Lab Coordinator, the SDC Medical and Administrative Directors, patients, hospital staff, and general public.
- Must be able to contribute to departmental and hospital quality assurance/CQI measures.
- Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements:
- Required to provide call coverage on a scheduled basis.
- May be intermittently required to perform procedures on weekends and holidays.
- May also be required to work on alternate shifts.
- Equipment Used: Sleep Disorders Centers lab instrumentation and system computers.
- Physical Requirements:• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
