This position involves both in-house and in-field responses to various radio problems, performing component-level repairs for walk-in customers, and servicing mobile and portable equipment. You will also provide communication products and solutions for Business, Industrial, Education, and State & Local Government markets. The responsibilities and requirements listed are not all-inclusive.
Location:
This role is based in an office/warehouse environment in Seymour, IN. Field work is required.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain two-way radio systems, including base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios.
- Troubleshoot and repair radio equipment, diagnosing faults and replacing components as needed.
- Research and evaluate system issues, providing recommendations for solutions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to coordinate project installations and deployments.
- Install and/or remove electronic equipment related to communication systems, such as radio interoperability gateways, remote controls, and external speakers.
- Assist in the specification and design of dispatch and remote communication installations.
- Provide ongoing support to existing customers.
- Ensure two-way radio equipment is operating to technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot and correct equipment defects using soldering and other repair skills.
- Enter detailed work information into a PC for billing and tracking purposes.
- Resolve technical issues for customers via email and phone.
- Inspect and test radio PCB boards, diagnosing malfunctions using visual inspections, testing devices, and computer software.
- Reassemble and test equipment after repairs.
- Coordinate the licensing process of radio frequencies with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
- Train a team of technicians.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a wireless communication technician.
- 5+ years of RF experience and training in the use of test equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong professional communication skills with both co-workers and customers.
- A teaching mentality.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
