A leading entertainment and media company is seeking a highly skilled and creative Video Producer for a fully remote, temporary assignment covering a leave of absence. This role is currently scheduled to end on May 8, 2025, and offers a competitive hourly rate of up to $50.

The Video Producer will join a dynamic Video & Immersive team to create engaging short-form editorial content for prominent social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The focus will be on topics aligned with the company's brand and editorial mission, emphasizing science, history, and the natural world.

Responsibilities:

Develop, produce, and edit content tailored to the formats and editing styles authentic to social platforms.
Create a range of content, from quick-turn pieces responding to current events to long-term evergreen stories and features.
Collaborate closely with editorial staff, photo editors, and photo/video contributors.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity & inclusion and editorial integrity.

Key Responsibilities Breakdown:

25% Pre-Production & Story Development: Research, conduct interviews, write scripts, and collaborate with writers for development and expert sourcing to ensure editorial alignment, accuracy, and integrity.
25% Production: Schedule and record mobile shoots, manage production logistics for field videographers/contributors, and direct on-screen talent during recording sessions.
25% Post-Production: Conduct video research and acquisition, edit footage, finalize scripts, and implement editorial notes from stakeholder reviews.
10% Content Strategy & Collaboration: Participate in team brainstorms and content planning, pitch story/series ideas, and assist in making informed decisions on departmental editorial direction.
7% Legal & Clearances: Secure releases from talent and third-party visual materials, working with Production Management and Legal on releases, contracts, and fair use matters.
5% Social Media Optimization: Create compelling video captions with relevant tagging, deliver final meta data for video publishing, and review/approve promotional thumbnails.
3% Administrative: Track production expenses and process invoices.

Qualifications:

Ability to collaborate effectively with editorial staff to identify stories and develop pitches.
Well-defined editorial voice and a strong visual sensibility with a keen eye for motion graphics.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder, Illustrator).
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Self-motivated and resourceful with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5+ years of professional video production experience; experience with explainer content is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience and enthusiasm for social video content and audiences on TikTok and Instagram.
Familiarity with other social platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter/X.
Awareness of successful content creators for potential partnerships.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in media production or video journalism.
