Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing and Special Promotions (DMSP) is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies and event promotions for the Best Western Plus University Inn, including its Convention Center and Seasons Restaurant. The DMSP's primary goal is to drive hotel occupancy, increase community engagement, and generate revenue through special events, promotions, and marketing initiatives. This position requires a hands-on, creative, and data-driven approach to enhance the hotel's visibility and attract both overnight guests and local patrons. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader with a passion for hospitality, event creation, and community building.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Marketing & Planning Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies for the hotel, convention center, and restaurant. Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and guest insights to guide marketing initiatives. 2. Event Creation & Management
Create and promote special events to increase hotel occupancy and community engagement. Utilize the convention center, courtyard, and other property spaces to host events like live music, movie nights, pool parties, comedy shows, gaming conventions, and LAN parties. Stay informed on industry and community trends to create timely and engaging events. 3. Advertising & Promotion
Oversee local advertising efforts using a mix of digital, traditional, and in-house platforms, including: Digital Marketing: Facebook, Instagram, email marketing, and blog content. Traditional Media: Moscow Pullman Daily News, Inland 360, ZFUN 106, Evergreen Newspaper (U of I campus), and Home & Harvest Magazine. On-Site Marketing: Roadside reader boards, internal hotel displays, and guestroom TV promotions. 4. Social Media & Content Creation
Lead social media strategy and content creation, ensuring engaging and high-quality visuals, video, and storytelling. Highlight key events, promotions, and behind-the-scenes content to strengthen brand visibility and attract guests. 5. Public Relations & Reputation Management
Respond to media inquiries, build press relationships, and oversee online reviews on platforms like TripAdvisor, Google, and Best Western. Promote the hotel's reputation as a community hub and industry leader. 6. Email & Digital Campaigns
Design and execute email marketing campaigns to drive bookings, promote events, and increase engagement. Track and analyze campaign performance to refine future efforts. Event Promotion & Partnerships Market on-site events to local and regional audiences, leveraging partnerships with local media and businesses to maximize visibility. Build collaborative relationships with local businesses, tourism organizations, and community groups to drive event attendance and hotel stays. 8. Collaborative Leadership
Partner with department heads to align marketing strategies with broader business goals. Ensure all hotel teams are aligned with the property's marketing initiatives, providing a seamless guest experience. 9. Budget Management
