The R&D Packaging Designer will work alongside the North America Packaging Team, based in McCormick's Global HQ in Maryland. This position is a 6-month Co-op (June - December 2025) that requires working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Typical working hours fall between 830AM and 5PM. Schedule accommodations will be made for the right candidate. This is a paid Co-op that has a scaled hourly rate, depending upon experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with daily packaging design and development, from sketches to iterative renderings, cad and prototyping through 3d printing.
  • Conduct an independent research project in areas based upon mutual interest. Proposal, execution of written and oral presentation is expected at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Collaborate with the internal packaging engineers and marketing teams to deliver project results and design recommendations to the business teams. Support may include interaction with external suppliers and consumer research opportunities at on site facilities.
  • Orally present a summary of work completed and the accomplishments at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Throughout the experience, the intern must demonstrate the ability to:
    • Learn new tasks
    • Successfully navigate corporate systems and environments
    • Work independently
    • Manage prioritization of multiple projects and deliverables
    • Assess problems and propose solutions that meet the criteria
    • Ensure regular and transparent communication of project progress
    • Exhibit self-motivation and initiative
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior going in the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Package Design, Product Design.
  • Grade point average overall minimum of 3.0/4.0 and 3.25 within major
  • Project and time management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Solidworks cad software
