What You Will Do:
The Technical Proposal Writer's role involves crafting compelling content for technical proposals and responses to federal contract opportunities. This encompasses all aspects of the response, such as Executive Summaries, Technical Content, Past Performance, Staffing/Management Content, and Resumes, ensuring alignment with the objectives and requirements of the opportunity. The ideal candidate will possess the skill to write proficiently, conveying approaches that quickly interpret our company's offerings and articulate these in language that resonates with both business and technical users or decision-makers. As part of the Business Development team, the candidate will collaborate effectively and follow the guidance of proposal team leaders (Capture Manager, Proposal Manager, and Operations Lead) and work with other designated authors or Subject Matter Experts.
Job Duties:
- Craft and enhance a compliant, engaging technical proposal narrative that integrates input from the capture or proposal manager, clearly delineating strengths, winning themes, distinct advantages, and the business value proposition within the context of the customer's ecosystem and the requirements of the opportunity.
- Create detailed proposal content by conducting interviews with technical, program, and management personnel.
- Comply with the timelines and deadlines set by the proposal manager and manage time proactively.
Conduct research, draft preliminary guidance materials and documentation, assess technical options, and endorse the optimal choice. - Generate RFI responses, promotional materials, and client presentations.
- Work with team members and stakeholders to create documents that accurately present information about current contracts and various projects. Participate in comprehensive quality, compliance, and completeness evaluations of each response to an opportunity, including involvement in color reviews and content refinement based on feedback from review teams and guidance from the capture or proposal manager.
- Support capture management research as instructed by the capture manager.
- Formulate a strategy for ongoing collection of technical data.
Required Skills
- Seeking candidates with two years of technical writing experience within a proposal, marketing, technical team, or other professional writing roles.
- Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to convert business issues into viable, scalable technical solutions, presented narratively or graphically.
- A keen intellectual curiosity and the aptitude to rapidly understand diverse subjects.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a strict observance of schedules and deadlines.
- A self-driven, proactive, and dynamic approach.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to meet writing deadlines or coordinate with operational/contractor staff during off-hours.
- Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing in a dynamic, demanding, and deadline-oriented setting.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and Adobe PDF. Desired qualifications:
- Knowledge of Business Development Lifecycle practices, such as Shipley methodologies.
- Familiarity with the federal government sector and proposal processes.
Years of Experience: 2 years
Minimum Education Required: Computer Science or Technology related Bachelor's Degree.
