Description
The City of Lynchburg is seeking skilled applicants to fill the position of Grant Writer and play a critical role that will make a tangible difference in our community. The primary responsibilities include coordinating grant activities across all sub-recipients, scheduling coordination meetings, tracking and managing the timely completion of grant objectives and tasks, and ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders. They will work collaboratively and proactively with the City of Lynchburg's Parks & Recreation department to ensure all compliance and reporting documents are reviewed and provided for reporting.
Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience with a starting pay of $20/hr.

Essential Duties
- General financial reporting
- Communicating with various internal and external departments
- Drafting and revising documents
- Conducting key informant interviews and group discussions
- Assist in the preparation of long-range plans for project development activities and plans for individual grant proposals
- Collaborates with a variety of parties (i.e. district personnel, community organizations, business, outside originations etc.) for the purpose of securing funding to maintain and enhance services and/or programs
- Develops forms, processes, procedures, and policies for the purpose of implementing a consistent grant application methodology
- Develops grant applications and related documents (i.e. required reports, budgets, specific inquiries, etc.) for the purpose of submitting highly effective grant applications to the appropriate funding agency
- Evaluates degree of match between listed grant priority areas and the needs of the City of Lynchburg Parks & Recreation for the purpose of matching needs with funding sources
- Monitors proposals and funding application requirements (i.e. presentation, content, delivery method and labeling, deadlines, eligibility for grant, etc.) for the purpose of utilizing time and resources to maximize successful awarding of grant funds
- Coordinate and oversee grant activities across multiple sub-recipients.
- Ensure that all grant objectives & tasks are being completed on time & within budget
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project timeline
- Track progress on grant objectives, tasks, and deliverables
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders.
- Other duties necessary to complete tasks successfully may be assigned
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S) or higher from an accredited college or university
- Two years of professional experience in grant writing or grant management
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications.
- Proven experience in grant coordination, project management, or a related role
- Possession of valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and an acceptable driving record based on City criteria
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
