POSITION SUMMARY

Reports to: Senior Marketing Manager

As the Advertising Coordinator, your primary role is to ensure that advertising and campaign related creative assets are organized and executed on behalf of Destination DC. You will assist the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Specialist in ensuring the developing the execution plan of all advertising collateral. You will coordinate with external vendor to deliver advertising deadlines and specifications to the internal team. This position is required by the Marketing & Communications department of Destination DC to help reach its goals and to fulfill its mission as the destination marketing organization for the nation's capital.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to)

  1. Tracks member and partner inclusion in all advertising campaigns and ensures this is tracked through Destination DC's CRM, Simpleview.
  2. Coordinates and supports the fulfillment of domestic advertising campaigns. This includes scheduling internal and external calls, coordinating deadlines and specs with vendors, pulling screenshot reports and more. Campaigns may be leisure or trade focused and include print, digital, out of home, video, native and other assets. Tracks submissions and ensures the Senior Marketing Manager is aware of fulfillment status.
  3. Consistently communicates with Destination DC's media buying agency of record. Ensures that advertising projects are moving forward, and that both internal and agency teams have what is needed to achieve results. Keeps the Senior Marketing Manager and Advertising Specialist aware of opportunities and challenges and works towards solving problems alongside the media buying agency team.
  4. Submits and tracks all invoices related to Destination DC's paid media campaigns. Keeps Senior Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing aware of budget status.
  5. Is competent and comfortable working in all aspects of Destination DC's digital tools, including SimpleView, Cvent, Concur and others as needed. Works within these programs to tag members, ensure invoices are processed, etc.
  6. Assists with departmental projects as needed, including developing or update presentations, updating promotional website pages and working at off-site promotional events.

What You Bring: Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
  1. Four-year degree from an academic institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or communications preferred.
  2. Minimum of 1 years' experience working in marketing and/or advertising.
  3. Advertising or creative agency experience is a plus.
  4. Excellent oral and written skills including a command of English grammar, usage and vocabulary.
  5. Excellent organizational skills.
  6. Strong attention to detail and proofreading.
  7. Strong proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point and Word.
  8. Travel/Hospitality Industry experience or knowledge a plus.
  9. Ability to work as a team as well as independently.
  10. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
