Software Engineer – Advertising at Boingo Wireless Boingo’s Media team provides an advertising platform that engages millions of users in thousands of hotspots every day. The advertising segment is one of the fastest growing business lines at Boingo. The advertising team is looking for engineers that are passionate about creating great systems to help this exciting business unit grow over the coming years. The perfect candidate for this position is someone who loves to code as well as mentor other engineers. If you like working in a small group and producing great systems, this is the team for you. Responsibilities: Implement no ad formats into the ad serving framework as they become required Evaluate current ad serving logic and design and implement improvements Work with Boingo’s BI team to improve reporting, ensuring accuracy and quality of reporting metrics Evaluate and improve scaling capability of ad serving and analytics Streamline ad operations by providing enhanced admin UI features Work collaboratively with other engineers in the group Influence the product roadmap and help move the media team forward Requirements: Excellent oral and written communication skills 4+ years programming experience (Dynamic languages preferred, Python, Javascript, Ruby) Ability to do both front end and back end web programming Experience with SQL (MySQL / PostgreSQL) Experience with MongoDB or other document-oriented database HTML / CSS / Javascript experience Experience with both desktop and mobile web environments Strong experience debugging complicated systems involving network, backend servers, and front-end clients Experience evaluating algorithms and frameworks for scaling limitations Strong understanding of fundamental CS concepts including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering concepts Some experience in operational maintenance of backend systems including web servers, application servers and databases Nice to haves: Python Django experience Experience automating deployment with Chef Knowledge of distributed message passing frameworks (Celery) Cloud deployment experience (AWS, Rackspace) Experience working in an organization focused on client support Experience with web advertising concepts Google Tag Manager Experience with Google's DoubleClick for Publishers API Coffeescript Location: Westwood Los Angeles Position: Employee Work Schedule: Full-time Remote: No Relocation: Yes Salary: DOE How to Apply Position is expired.
