A PLAYDAY Lead Instructor is responsible for developing and teaching engaging art classes and projects in accordance with PLAYDAYs class offerings and schedule. Using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with PLAYDAY guidelines and principles, the Instructor guides children through their creative journey, sharing tidbits of artistic passion and art history along the way. The Instructor strives to be a positive, creative and upbeat role-model for all children.
This is a full-time salaried position that includes 5 PTO days, 7 paid holidays, health benefits(with company contribution included), and a Simple IRA plan with employer match.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and develop engaging art activities in accordance to PLAYDAYs offerings and schedule.
- Communicate and present activity content/project to the manager for approval prior to the class.
- Suggest and propose ideas for specific art projects in accordance to PLAYDAYs curriculum.
Lead, teach and instruct children various creative art activities and projects at onsite and offsite locations (e.g., park, school, etc.). - Prepare for art projects by setting up activities and materials in a timely manner.
- Lead each activity in accordance with our mission, and our values to Create, Activate and Celebrate.
- Lead Playday Birthday Parties/events with all aspects of the party and activities.
- Understand and execute the planned activities timely as organized by the manager and the birthday family.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting children and birthday families with anything that is needed.
- Follow and put into practice all S.O.P.s and Company policies outlined in our Employee Handbook and on other Company platform.
- Follow safety and security standards to ensure the safety for all at Playday.
- Maintain required paperwork and other necessary records.
- Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with the store manager.
- Maintain activity areas clean during and after sessions as well as between projects and at the end of the shift.
- Pick up children from their schools or bus stops within walking distance to the PLAYDAY locations.
- Maintain a positive uplifting attitude, tune in to projects and provide encouragement, mindfulness, age-appropriate terminology and understanding, interact with children/caregiver as they participate in activity.
- Remain engaged and be present for the entire duration of the offering/projects.
- Maintain positive and professional attitude when engaging with children, parents, caregivers and PLAYDAY staff members.
- Maintain required paperwork and other necessary records, if applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelors degree or relevant/equivalent work experience required.
- Prior experience working with children is required.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Must sustain consistent communication within the role and ones employment.
- Outstanding planning, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong effective leadership and motivational skills, with effective time management.
- Full availability required, holidays and weekends, with a commitment to 40 hours per week accrued over 5 days, but on rare occasions 6-7 days.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
- Diversified knowledge of various art techniques and/or mediums, and supplies.
- Solid knowledge and skills to teach and lead PLAYDAYs activities and offerings (e.g., camp sessions, offsite workshops/events, hourly sessions, Advanced Art, Grown Up & Me, after-school sessions, birthday parties).
- Ability to relate to children and make the activity offerings an enjoyable and positive experience.
- Ability to mentor and motivate children along with a love for sharing relevant art history and modern techniques.
- Strong child behavior management skills.
- Capacity to supervise group work.
- Ability to be insightful, mindful, and encouraging.
