About the Position:
Aesthetics
Interdisciplinary course examines a broad range of contemporary art and culture to engage an expansive conception of aesthetic experience. Students engage with historical and contemporary aesthetic theories, build heightened aesthetic sensibility, and explore their personal aesthetic.
Writing for Artists
Practical writing seminar in which students practice typical writing forms of creative professionals, including artist's statements, grant proposals, and reviews, while also exploring ways in which artists have used writing, books, and language in art making.
Responsibilities:
The Professor will teach Aesthetics and/or Writing for Artists. Classes meet once a week in-person, with access to teaching facilities, including a Mac computer lab. Online or hybrid courses may occasionally be offered.

Required Qualifications:
- MFA (recent MFA graduates encouraged to apply) in art or writing or PhD in writing, aesthetics, critical theory, philosophy, or related discipline in progress;
- Art and/or writing experience (exhibition and/or publication record);
- Commitment to teaching and mentorship; and
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MFA (recent MFA graduates encouraged to apply) in art or writing or PhD in writing, aesthetics, critical theory, philosophy, or related discipline completed;
- Teaching experience at the university-level; and
- Demonstrated experience working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
