The School of Visual Arts (SVA) at Boston University (BU) College of Fine Arts invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of Visual Art non-tenure track. The successful candidate will be a well-established artist with a national reputation and an expertise in painting in addition to adjacent areas of specialization. Evidence of the ability to teach students in a university setting is required. The position includes undergraduate (BFA, BA) & graduate (MFA) teaching in addition to graduate student advising. A versatile skill set and proficiency in contemporary, historical, conceptual, and material approaches to the medium is desired.
The Boston University School of Visual Arts is nationally prominent with aspirations to become one of the leading visual arts schools in the world. Our graduate painting program (MFA) is currently ranked #6 in US News & World Report. In addition to historic strengths in sculpture and graphic design, we have recently expanded our programmatic offerings in Visual Narrative (graphic novels and comics), printmaking, and photography (within a newly created Print Media & Photography graduate program).
We seek an artist and educator who will complement and strengthen current faculty in a school that empowers students to create work that is rigorous and exploratory in form and content.

Qualifications
The candidate should possess expertise and knowledge of the materials, techniques, intellectual discourse, and history of their field informed by recent work and scholarship in visual art. The successful candidate will be well-prepared to teach advanced students (graduate and undergraduate) in studio and seminar courses. The candidate should have a proven ability to teach the critical and conceptual frameworks of visual art. An MFA in a related area is required.
The candidate is also expected to have:
? A strong exhibition record and evidence of impact in the field at the national level;
? A strong record of college-level teaching experience that demonstrates evidence of excellent mentorship and innovative pedagogy.
