Our Austin studio is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join our Tech Art team. You will grow and develop in many different areas, learning from a highly skilled team while working on cutting-edge technology. We are open to candidates from all industries who have a passion for games. A list of qualifications is provided below, but please do not hesitate to apply if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain technologies associated with art pipelines and workflows
- Collaborate with Art and Engineering to drive research, identify new workflows, technologies for improved pipelines, and streamlined creation processes
- Solve technical issues related to rigs, animations, hair and cloth simulations, and performance capture
- Establish and implement naming conventions within assets, tools, and workflows
- Collaborate with other technical artists daily to find opportunities for improved workflows and tools
- Partner with the engineering team to ensure build stability, and to ensure that memory and performance budgets are being maintained
- Mentor other artists as needed
- Learn from and grow with some of the top talent in the industry
Who Will Be A Great Fit:
- 5+ years in the games, film, or animation industries
- Proficiency with Python/C#/C++
- Fluent in Maya with significant experience in animation, rigging, shaders along with MEL Script/Maya API experience
- Experience with cloth and rigid/soft body physics setup for characters, including collision volumes
- Experience with Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop, Perforce, and Confluence
- Experience researching, piloting, and rolling out new techniques
- Interest in gaming platform limitations and advantages
- Ability to turn creative aspirations into achievable realities
- ShotGrid experience preferred but not required
- Love for video games (not just ours!)
