You will have the opportunity to make substantial impact on the product with the goal of continuously improving our audio quality, working with developers to bring new audio hardware to Tesla products in a fast-paced development and manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to apply a passion for audio perfection and gain cross functional skills in software, hardware, and manufacturing to root-cause issues, and establish efficient procedures and processes to validate audio designs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute objective and subjective evaluations of audio components and systems
- Transducer characterization and validation of designs
- Conduct acoustic measurements and data collection for vehicle audio applications
- Build test setups for audio hardware, interfacing with the device under test via digital, analog, and acoustic I/O
- Generate clear test reports from the investigations
- Develop protocols for evaluating and validating DSP algorithms, audio software, and hardware
- Work closely with developers to investigate, define, and iterate improvements
- Triage and root cause audio issues, providing actionable details to developers
- Black box testing of acoustic/audio related features of the vehicle for software/hardware development
- Manual validation of audio functions in the car including voice capture and media playback for software and hardware milestones
- Experience using instruments such as Klippel and Audio Precision or SoundCheck
- Experience with acoustic measurement instruments, processes, tradeoffs and relevant pitfalls
- Hands-on experience with acoustic measurements, microphone types, and acoustic metrics
- Ability to hear analog and digital audio artifacts, identify and localize physical acoustic defects
- Highly detail oriented and well organized
- Must possess a perpetual drive for perfection in audio quality
- Flexibility to learn and use the best available software tools and infrastructure
- Valid driver's license required

$104,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
