Title: Contract Writer, Home & Garden Content

First Look:

The Arena Group is seeking a home and garden-loving Contract Writer with excellent writing skills and online know-how to join our team. If hired, you will be responsible for pitching and producing quick-turnaround, 350-450 word articles on a daily basis, as well as researching and writing longer-form SEO-driven evergreen articles.

The Arena Group’s expected hourly pay for this position is $25 USD per hour. Please note: due to the volume of applications we receive, only applicants selected for consideration will be contacted. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S., and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

What You’ll Do:

• Writing multiple short, quick-turnaround articles for Parade Home & Garden and DenGarden.

• Searching social media channels of key players in the home and garden industry to find potential sources of news content; pitching news ideas for articles to the home editor

• Searching for and choosing appropriate photos for each article

• Researching and writing SEO-driven evergreen articles, interviewing sources as needed.

• Accepting and applying feedback from the home editor to improve the quality of articles
  
  

What You’ll Bring:

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• At least two years of writing experience for an online media outlet

• Understanding of general SEO principles

• Familiarity with Wordpress and content management systems

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the home and garden industry

• Vast knowledge of the key players in the home and garden community, both on social media and television

• A genuine interest in home and garden content as a whole
  
  

About You:

Team-oriented, detail-oriented, creative, possesses great time-management skills, and are able to turn around clean, accurate copy in a timely, efficient manner, without the need for a heavy top edit. You have a thorough understanding of how to write in an online capacity, including properly sourcing and hyperlinking material, using a CMS, and also composing articles in a conversational tone that aims to provide the most optimal reader experience. You also have a willingness to learn, and an ability to apply feedback to further hone your craft and develop your skills as a writer.
