Job Description
The Creative Director will lead part of the creative team, which is responsible for the conceptualization, design, and execution of creative projects for multiple clients. This role will provide strategic and critical thought leadership and excel in incorporating a connected consumer experience across multiple channels.
Responsibilities
- Guides multiple design projects simultaneously and is responsible for the overall quality of work produced by the creative team.
- Executes and delivers creative work based on understood priorities to meet, if not exceed, expectations.
- Oversees the production of client needs and collaborates with the Executive Creative Director on a regular basis.
- Works on high-profile/high-priority client projects including daily deliverables and special projects varying in scope.
- Follows projects throughout all stages of creative execution through deployment.
- Understands and speaks to business objectives.
- Translates business objectives into clear creative strategies.
- Clearly communicates their creative vision to clients and gives direction to the internal team.
- Adept at creating compelling presentations including the visuals/messaging to help tell a story.
- Ability to lead client discovery sessions, present and communicate how the concept meets objectives and expectations.
- Expert understanding of the client brand, design needs, and technological parameters.
- Manages and mentors a team of designers, copywriters, and production artists.
- Leads by example and cultivates an atmosphere that motivates and drives the team to be successful.
- Reviews work and provides effective, actionable feedback to the creative team in a timely manner.
- Ensures visual communication and brand standards are met. Leads brainstorming sessions as needed.
- Takes ownership, leads initiatives, and successfully executes through all stages of creative development while managing expectations and workload to meet target deadlines.
- Promotes collaboration, support, and inclusion to create a positive work environment.
- Identifies opportunities for creative talent recruitment and development.
- Effectively communicates cross-functionally with client stakeholders, internal partners, and senior leadership to meet business objectives.
- Continuous evaluation of trends, data assessment, and creative techniques to keep the project’s brand vision active and evolving.
Qualifications
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelors degree in a discipline related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in marketing and/or advertising, with a focus on both retail and institutional creative in print, digital, and environmental space.
Skills and Certifications
- Possesses a strong current portfolio of imaginative and compelling work.
- Emphasis on concepts, omni-channel marketing, and creative strategy.
- Well-versed in industry-standard creative applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and MS Office applications.
- Deep experience in print & production is a must.
- Meticulous attention to detail and makes recommendations to refine processes as needed.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Meets commitments and demonstrates excellent follow-through.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling skills to both internal teams and external clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities that include initiating and creating supporting materials from inception to fruition.
- Exhibits professionalism, adaptability, and composure under stressful situations.
- Strategic and critical thinker with keen problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated individual with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Responsive leadership style with the ability to manage conflict resolution and diverse personalities.

Additional Information
This is a salary plus incentive program eligible role. RRD's current pay range for this role is $50,000 to $150,000 / year. The pay range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. It is not typical for the final salary offered to be near or at the top of the range. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs.
