Position Summary

The Creative Media Specialist will play a critical role in developing and enhancing the visual identity of the ACCS Innovation Center. This individual will manage graphic design projects, assist in formulating social media strategies, oversee website management, and lead content creation for digital and print media. This position requires a strategic mindset with the ability to take the ACCS Innovation Center's brand to the next level by producing engaging, innovative media content that reflects our mission to "Train Our State for the Better."
** NOTE: This position may be based at the main office in Montgomery, a system college, or the Innovation Center in Decatur. **
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  1. With the guidance from the Director of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships assist with the creation of compelling visual content for digital and print media including social media graphics, email campaigns, infographics, brochures, newsletters, web design, and all promotional materials.
  2. Ensure all media assets are aligned with ACCS Innovation Center branding guidelines and help to develop a consistent and cohesive brand identity.
  3. Maintain an inventory of photos and other elements that appear on the ACCS Innovation Center website.
  4. Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce high-quality graphics and layouts.
  5. Utilize appropriate software to prepare print-ready electronic files for proof and final print.
  6. Assist the Social Media Coordinator in developing and executing engaging social media strategies to grow and engage the ACCS Innovation Center audience.
  7. Design and produce digital assets for social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, ensuring brand consistency across all posts.
  8. Assist with the management of the ACCS Innovation Center website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and optimized for user experience.
  9. Utilize platforms such as WordPress to update and maintain website content.
  10. Assist with monitoring the website performance and implement SEO strategies to enhance online presence.
  11. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Director of Marketing & Corporate Partnerships and the Innovation Center Executive Team, to plan and execute marketing campaigns that support program visibility and engagement.
  12. Develop content calendars and ensure the timely delivery of media and marketing materials for various campaigns and projects.
  13. Maintain organization of media assets and project files for easy access and reference.
  14. Provide graphic and digital support for all departments within the ACCS Innovation Center, ensuring that design assets meet the needs of internal and external campaigns.
  15. Conduct marketing research and provide insights for improving content strategies and brand positioning.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
  1. Build and maintain strong working relationships with communications and public relations teams across the ACCS system, providing graphic design and digital marketing support as needed.
  2. Develop visually engaging presentation content for executive leadership, ensuring materials reflect the ACCS Innovation Center's brand and messaging objectives.
  3. Produce and analyze marketing research to identify trends, audience insights, and emerging platforms for enhancing the Innovation Center's outreach and program visibility.
  4. Generate regular reports detailing project outcomes, engagement metrics, and production activity to support ongoing evaluation and improvement of marketing initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Serve on various internal committees as needed, contributing creative solutions and recommending strategies to improve communication and marketing processes.
  2. Assist with marketing or design tasks related to special projects and events, collaborating with other departments to ensure cohesive branding and communication efforts.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Corporate Partnerships to support the overall marketing and communications strategy of the ACCS Innovation Center.


Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  2. Minimum two (2) years of experience in graphic design, digital marketing, or a related role.
  3. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom) and website management platforms (WordPress, Squarespace).
  4. Experience in developing social media strategies and creating content that aligns with brand identity.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.
  6. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
PREFERRED:
  1. Experience with project management tools such as Asana or Monday.com.
  2. Knowledge of HTML/CSS and SEO best practices for web design.
  3. Bilingual ability (Spanish) for creating inclusive and accessible marketing materials.
  4. Photography and video editing skills.

Sick Leave
Full-time employees earn 4 hours and 20 minutes of sick leave for each half-monthly pay period of service or 13 days per year. No more than 150 days or 1, 200 hours of sick leave may be accumulated. Personal Leave
All full-time, part-time, or temporary employees who are employed by the State of Alabama on January 1, and who are stationed outside of Mobile and Baldwin Counties, are entitled to a personal leave day each year in lieu of the former Mardi Gras holiday. The System Office policy requires that employees schedule their personal leave day prior to scheduling any annual leave.

Retirement
The Alabama Community College System participates in the Retirement Systems of Alabama Teachers Retirement System. Teachers Retirement System is a state-mandated program where a percentage of your salary is withheld per pay period for an individual's retirement account. The percentage is determined by an employee's hire date and any prior participation in the Retirement Systems of Alabama.

Tier I (those with service credit prior to January 1, 2013): 7.5%
Tier II (those with service credit beginning on or after January 1, 2013): 6.2%

Tuition Waiver
This tuition assistance program is designed for all full-time benefits-eligible employees, retirees, and benefits-eligible H Salary Schedule employees of The Alabama Community College System and the Alabama Community College System office and their dependents defined by the policy.
