Job Overview:

Marketing & Mobilization (M&M), a key part of External Relations (ER) is a dynamic team tasked with overseeing and executing communications and marketing, building the IRC's global profile and brand, increasing private revenue from deep donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences - all in the service of helping people facing the world's worst humanitarian crises. In alignment with our Strategy100 commitments, M&M has launched ambitious multi-year campaigns that raise funding, profile and influence and will improve our share of voice and resonance in key geographies and globally. M&M continuously innovates the IRC brand, which enables us to increase awareness, understanding of and support for our work.

The Content & Creative team, a core part of M&M, consists of award-winning brand and creative specialists and idea partners, developing powerful communications and experiences to engage audiences and ultimately to deliver on ER ambitions and objectives. Using creative mediums such as visual design, video, stunts, and storytelling, we tap into the expertise and talents of colleagues throughout the organization.

The Associate Director of Content & Creative Operations will create an environment where creativity and innovation can thrive. They'll make sure the team has the right tools, processes, and support to work efficiently and flexibly. This role includes leading the team's input in the yearly planning process, leading day-to-day operations to ensure smooth project and strategy execution, overseeing department resources like budget and capacity, and promoting strong operations throughout the department.

This leader should be hands-on and willing to take action, passionate about their work, detail-focused, and a strong problem-solver. They'll find simple, scalable solutions to sophisticated challenges, have strong project management skills, and be able to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning & Delivery:
  • Develop and implement operational plans, processes, and tools that align with Content & Creative goals, ensuring efficient resource use.
  • Partner with leadership to manage team strategy, including calendar planning and process optimization.
  • Maintain a regular cadence with cross-functional teams to track progress, address roadblocks, and ensure goals and critical metrics are met.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership on progress, risks, dependencies, and report milestones and outcomes to all relevant parties.
  • Use data and analytics to monitor performance, identify improvement areas, and provide key metrics through effective reporting.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with partners to ensure seamless collaboration across teams.
  • Operations:
    • Streamline department procedures to boost efficiency and productivity, continuously improving Content & Creative operations.
    • Manage contracts, invoicing, and expenses for the Content & Creative team.
    • Work closely with creative, fundraising, and communications leads to identify team needs and challenges, representing them to leadership to help prioritize resources and workflows.
    • Promote consistent processes across the division to enhance transparency, communication, and compliance.
    • Develop and implement strategies to support new initiatives and ensure smooth transitions within Content & Creative, collaborating with leadership across Marketing & Mobilization.

    Job Requirements:

    1. Work Experience:
    • Cross-disciplinary knowledge of nonprofit, communication, storytelling and media. Experience in the field of humanitarian aid a plus.
    • Nimble mindset with a focus on developing creative solutions.
    • Strong project reporting skills and experience with interdepartmental collaboration and communication.
  • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
    • Ability to source, capture and synthesize information effectively.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Demonstrated ability and strong capacity to manage and prioritize many projects at one time in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Highly effective written and oral communication skills essential.
    • Resourceful, collaborative, self-starter who possesses independent, responsive problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to work flexibly at all times as part of an internal team and with all levels of staff.
    • Ability to plan and manage budget and resources.

    Language Skills: English

    Preferred experience & skills:

    • 5-7+ years in program management within a communications, marketing, or fundraising department, with a record of increasing responsibility.
    • Strong program and project coordination skills, including process mapping, meeting facilitation, troubleshooting, negotiation, and change management.
    • Excellent communicator, able to convey vision and requirements persuasively to both senior stakeholders and working teams.
    • Data-driven with strong analytical skills; able to synthesize data from multiple sources to create clear insights and strategies.
    • Devoted to cultivating and improving a leading creative and brand function.
    • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with proven ability to prioritize and deliver on deadlines.
    • Effective in both independent work and collaborative, cross-functional team settings.
    • Skilled in problem-solving with a proactive, positive approach to managing change.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Project Management Certification preferred.
    • Experienced in engaging effectively with stakeholders across all organizational levels.

    Working Environment:

    • Standard office working environment.
    • This role may require working remotely full or part time and part time remote employees may be required to share workspace.

    Compensation:

    Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

    US Benefits:

    The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

    In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
