DESIGN ASSISTANT FOOTWEAR

Temporary to Permanent Position - This is a full time salary position. You will be evaluated at the end of (6) six months from your start date and may be offered a permanent position with the company. This arrangement offers employee and employer to try out your role in the company to determine if it is a good fit.

Compensation: Salary Exempt $66,560.00

Work Environment - Office environment

Location: 3485 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016 (HQ)

Hours: 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and as needed

Job Description:

The Assistant Footwear Designer is responsible for supporting the design team with clerical and creative responsibilities to achieve overall success for the department. This involves organizing physical swatches, digital design database, taking ownership of salesman sample orders, data entry, organizing confirmation sample information, helping with trend boards, researching industry trends, ability to sketch using Adobe Illustrator and helping with CADS and material selection when necessary.

Qualifications:

Specialized Training: Sketching in Adobe Illustrator and photoshop required.

Work Experience: Internships (footwear design department or related field), Freelance Design, Manufacturing or Production Experience

Design skills: Sketching, CAD proficiency.

Technical skills: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Material knowledge, Data entry

Creative skills: Trend Awareness, Fashion Savvy

Communication skills: Collaboration and Teamwork

Key responsibilities & duties:

An Assistant footwear designer is primarily responsible for supporting the design team in multiple tasks. Their duties often include organization, data entry, collaboration with lead designer and sales teams, sketching and trend analysis.

Academic or trade qualifications:

Educational background: Design – BA or AA Degree, providing a strong foundation in design principles, basic ability to sketch using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. A strong love of fashion and familiarity with the brand. Footwear, Accessories or Apparel Design background is a plus. Background in Fine Arts, Graphic arts, Interior Design –would qualify.
