Job Title: Machine Embroidery Design Tester

Department: Product Development

Job Summary: As a Machine Embroidery Design Tester at Kimberbell, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our embroidery designs. Your responsibilities will include meticulously testing each design on various embroidery machines, identifying any issues or inconsistencies, and providing detailed feedback to our design team for refinement. Your keen attention to detail, proficiency in operating embroidery machines, and ability to communicate effectively will be essential in maintaining the high standards of creativity and craftsmanship that Kimberbell is known for. Position Type:

  • Part-time (15-25 hours per week)
  • ¾-time (30-35 hours per week)
  • Full-time (37-40 hours per week)

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Test prototypes to ensure a product's functionality, design and features.
  • Test files in different machines to ensure quality of the product on each step.
  • Test quality of fabric, stabilizer, and thread for machine embroidery projects.
  • Proactively follow the execution of all product details.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of spec sheets for assigned products.
  • Manage and approve photo samples.
  • Review samples and clearly communicate changes to ensure timely completion of each project.
  • Attend relevant meetings such as vision meetings.
  • Take step by step photos for instructions.
  • Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Read technical specifications and assist in the creation of easy to read how-to documentation for both technical and non-technical users.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 2-3 years experience with sewing/machine embroidery preferred.
  • High attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to act proactively and identify innovative solutions with a passion for product.
  • Ability to manage cross functional projects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

‘Day in the life’: A typical day as a Machine Embroidery Design Tester at Kimberbell involves starting with a review of the designs scheduled for testing, prioritizing based on deadlines and project requirements. You'll then set up different embroidery machines, meticulously running each design through multiple test runs, checking for any flaws, distortions, or inconsistencies in the design, with fabric, with stabilizer, or in the stitching. Throughout the day, you'll document your findings, providing detailed feedback to the design team for adjustments and improvements. Collaboration with colleagues, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring all quality standards are met will be integral parts of your routine. Additionally, you may participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and brainstorm new ideas, contributing to the continuous innovation and excellence that define Kimberbell's brand.
