Position summary 

As the Design Engineer, you are an integral part of the ECS (Environmental Control System) Product Team.  You directly participate in projects involving the design and development of composite and metallic structures, ducting, valves, actuators, fluid and thermal control systems, acoustic control, and a variety of stand-alone and integrated heaters for numerous applications. 

You generate product concepts and designs, tooling designs, drawings,and Parts Lists based on customer data, loads, performance requirements, material applicability and environmental constraint. You lead and ensure the progress of assigned projects; develop designs, data, specifications, processes, and reports throughout the product development process; and present for technical reviews.

Essential Responsibilities:

 

Support project goals and tasks with engineering leadership, finance, testing, quality, program management, and production support functions

Work seamlessly with other departments to develop prototypes and products that can be transitioned to production

Design and analysis to meet internal and customer requirements

Estimate manufacturing timeline /planning / verification/testing /validation.

Design tooling and fixtures as needed to produce designs consistently and economically

Solve technical problems in the lab or in the factory

Generate parts lists and digital bills of material, including sub-assemblies, fasteners, tooling and hardware accurately based on design requirements

Develop procedures for part and systems, including Acceptance Test Procedures/ Reports, Qualification Test Procedures, Qualification by Analysis and Similarity Reports, etc.

Generate 3D models and 2D, including interface control, installation, top assembly, detail, and sub-components, using both ANSI and geometric tolerance rules

Position Requirements:

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or comparable, with 3+ years’ experience in engineering design and development environment

Design experience with metals for structures and mechanical systems

Strong problem-solving skills

Proficient in CAD modeling and engineering drawings ( SolidWorks, Catia, and/or Creo)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools

Desired Capabilities :

Test plans, test procedures, conducting development and qualification testing

Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for mechanical components

Design experience with composites and elastomers for primary structure, secondary structure, ECS, ducting, etc.

Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems ( Oracle)

Experience with simulation and analysis ( Ansys, NASTRAN)

Experience with project engineering and technical leadership

Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards

Strong Leadership skills

Equal Pay Act Range:

Annual Salary Range $83,600 to $125,000 plus benefits and incentive plans.
