Description UX Designer Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Location: Remote - Portland, OR preferred Ready to make a difference? We are seeking a talented UX Strategist and Designer to join our growing team of domain experts, designers, and developers supporting government and commercial clients in the climate, energy, and clean transportation industries. Join our Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure Product and Engineering (EEI P&E) Team as we work to enhance and modernize a diverse portfolio of products within the EEI Group. The EEI P&E Team works across all divisions of EEI, including the Climate, Energy, & Transportation (CET), Environment and Planning (E&P), Disaster Management (DM) Divisions and more. Some of EEI’s primary goals are to help clients achieve smart, resilient, and low-carbon growth by leveraging our expertise in energy, climate adaptation and resilience, greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainability, energy efficiency, and transportation. Our data-driven approach uncovers smarter ways to deliver a low-carbon and resilient future, providing a full range of services to advance smart, sustainable growth. This position would be working on projects across the entire EEI group, with focuses in CET and E&P. We are excited to expand our team with the addition of a dedicated User Experience Strategist and Designer. This role offers a unique opportunity to support UX across several products in the EEI P&E portfolio. Some of these products exist today and need the UX revisited as part of modernization efforts, while others are new and require UX strategy and design from the ground up. We are seeking an experienced UX professional who can work independently and collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional product development teams with both established products and new initiatives at both large and small scales. As a UX Strategist and Designer, you will work with business owners, product managers, and product owners to discover and define product opportunities, delivering solutions through iterative wireframing, prototyping, and testing. You will start with customer and user research to design user experiences that prioritize user needs. You will generate ideas and explore possibilities, incorporating feedback, securing stakeholder buy-in, and working with UI designers and developers to ensure end products successfully implement designs that meet user expectations. What you will be doing: Develop and implement UX strategies at both the project and portfolio levels that align with business objectives. Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing. Analyze research findings to inform design decisions. Create user personas, user stories, journey maps, and wireframes. Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate UX into product roadmaps. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for UX success. Present research insights and design concepts to stakeholders. What we need you to have (minimum qualifications): Bachelor's degree (preferably in design, human computer interaction, computer science or related fields) 8+ years of applied UX strategy and design experience in the software industry. What we would like you to have: Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 compliance preferred. 10+ years of overall professional experience preferred. Experience leveraging Generative AI technologies to enhance user experiences, including the ability to integrate AI-driven insights and tools into the design process to create more personalized and innovative user interfaces. Experience with geospatial data and solutions Experience working in the energy, environment, or transportation sectors Professional Skills A strong portfolio showcasing past UX strategy and design projects, including case studies that demonstrate your process and impact. Proven experience conducting user research using various methods (e.g. interviews, surveys, usability testing) with at least three major products. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate research findings into actionable insights. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Mural, Sketch, or similar. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable experience presenting to stakeholders and justifying design decisions. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and proactively, without constant oversight Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work. Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is: $102,285.00 - $173,884.00 Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
