POSITION SUMMARY: The PCB Designer designs and drafts complex and detailed layouts of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and works with the project engineering team utilizing your understanding of circuit requirements and limitations. This role uses ECAD software in preparing PCB designs, assemblies, schematics and technical documents. Ability to design preliminary schematics, redlines, part lists and basic descriptions of new designs, or modifies existing high density/complex printed circuit boards. RESPONSIBILITIES: Place components and route traces ensuring that all functional and physical specifications meet the design requirements for PCB, electrical, mechanical and thermal design Create PCB designs in accordance with manufacturability and assembly requirements Engage manufacturing team to allow for design for manufacturability improvements (DFM) Create drawings, Gerber files, and other documentation for PCB fabrication and internal verification Work with Electrical, Mechanical and Firmware Engineers and react appropriately to engineering changes in PCB design and documentation Participating in process improvement activities for the CAD design team ECAD library creation for footprints and symbols WORK ENVIRONMENT: Location: Wilmington, MA; Some domestic and international travel may be required Environment: Standard office environment, possible interaction through a production factory environment QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates a sense of urgency and unmatched responsiveness to all work requests and customer deadlines. Capable of team building (external & internal) to drive cross-functional collaboration Strong priority setting skills, desire to meet project, tasks, and/or assignment deadlines Can work with minimal supervision, with ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment Proficient in working with SAP and Microsoft Suites (Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) EXPERIENCE: Essential: Specific experience with Altium software. Desirable: 2+ years of experience in PCB design, mechanical drafting or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Experience and knowledge of PCB design technologies, techniques, electrical schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly drawings Fundamental knowledge of industry standards such as IPC for design and ASME/ANSI for documentation Specific experience with Cadence software EDUCATION: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Competent skills and experience with ECAD programs/software applications and related equipment. COMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 to $95,000 per year.
