**Job Overview:**
Civil designer to perform a variety of design work to support civil engineers in the initial planning and design phases of projects. Develop detailed design drawings to support a varying portfolio of projects for Federal and commercial clients including the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, local authorities (nationwide), commercial retail companies, oil and gas providers and various coastal protection authorities.
Examples of civil design work include: highway plans and profiles, railroad track alignment and profiles, site civil plans, yard utility plans, drainage plans and pipe profiles, traffic signal plans, temporary traffic control or maintenance of traffic plans, storm water management plans, erosion and sediment control plans, levee and earthwork grading plans, lined detention pond plans, sign and pavement marking plans, topographic and flood boundary plans.

**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Develop detailed civil, utility and transportation related drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, primarily using Civil 3D.
+ Coordinate with and consult Engineers and other discipline Engineers/Designers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical issues.
+ Conform to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as to company policies and procedures.
+ Other duties may include collecting and compiling field data as required and assisting with preparation of material estimates.
+ Organizes own work to meet deadlines set by others.
+ Communicates information, asks questions, and checks for understanding.
+ Contributes to a team environment.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in civil engineering technology.
+ Requires Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or related degree). Bachelors degree preferred.
+ 5+ years related design experience.
+ Strong computer skills including training and/or experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or MicroStation, etc. and with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
+ Good verbal and writing skills.
+ Factory, field, and/or construction experience a plus.
+ REVIT experience a plus
+ Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent short-term field assignments.
