Salary: $30-36/hr (non-exempt)

Job Description:

The System Designer is a mid-level role within the Project Team responsible for developing a conceptual energy system design into a finalized, construction-ready design package. This position holds a technical understanding of our typical equipment and materials, and is responsible for designing residential and commercial energy systems that are code compliant and align with manufacturer and Ecotech installation best practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Model and uphold Ecotechs values of being a Good Neighbor, demonstrating Uncommon Craftsmanship, and Joyful Living.
  • Create a design package for residential and commercial energy systems consisting of electrical one-line diagrams, PV string layouts, Field Crew installation notes, electrical elevations & racking engineering reports.
  • Ensure pertinent site information is collected for all contracted projects by collaborating with Sales personnel and performing site assessments as needed.
  • Communicate with customers to obtain site-specific details as needed.
  • Confirm that any electrical calculations are completed to determine design feasibility as needed.
  • Verify that all mechanical, electrical, and communication technical specifications are incorporated into the design.
  • Generate preliminary design deliverables for 3rd party engineering services on commercial projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams for an effective handoff between departments.
  • Ensure design packages are assembled in a timely manner that is consistent with the Project Teams goals.


Required for this role:

  • PV design, electrical design, or PV installation experience with electrical aptitude (2+ years preferred)
  • General knowledge of residential home construction or building trades
  • Working knowledge of national and local electrical and building code
  • Administrative and organizational proficiency
  • Embodies similar or compatible values - tell us how you relate to the Ecotech core values
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Comfortable on roofs, ladders, & periodic physical demands (nice to have)
